OT veterans: I recently watched "13 Hours". How realistic is that movie?

Michael Bay directed it and we all know he loves big explosions and campy acting.
However, this movie was different. It's as if Michael Bay actually grew up and took seriously his direction of this movie. I thought everything about it was well done: The acting, the filmography, the details.
Therefore, I'm asking people who are military veterans or who have worked in private security: How realistic is the movie "13 Hours"?

I asked the same question after I watched it.
It is still Hollywood so you have to think some of it is stretching the truth.

I can't say I've had the same experiences as the operators depicted in the film, but I've been in similar situations overseas. The movie has an authentic vibe, although certainly there were some Hollywood/Bay liberties taken with the action sequences.
I agree. It is his only film I take seriously in any way, and I did go see it in the cinema, something I have done with none of his other films.

I agree, Midnight. I do not appreciate Bay's previous films. But I very much liked "13 Hours". And, it's one of the few films to actually make me furious while watching it.
No way in hell I will ever vote for Hillary.

It's based on the book written by the people that were there so I guess you would have to read the book to find out what is different.

From my understanding, it's very accurate relating to the book. There are few things that are disputed from some of people there especially the "chief." But overall it explains the situation pretty well.
Just remember that is just one man's account of what happened.

I haven't read the book, but I might have to. I was impressed with the movie.
It probably resembles what Peter Berg did to Lone Survivor. Peter had Marcus there the entire filming process, as can be seen in the movie since Marcus is not him but another character. But Marcus and Peter from what I've read, made it as close to the real experience as possible aside from the last 10 minutes.
According to Marcus, his rescue was not wild and out like in the movie. A Ranger team just came in and picked him up, no fuss.
Berg told Marcus he had to spice up the last few minutes for Hollywood and to make money on the movie. Supposedly Marcus was ok with it.

great movie and Bay I think did a good job telling the story...im sure there was a good bit of 'Hollywood" but I think it was pretty accurate from what I've read.

I'm not talking about the accuracy of the story, I'm asking how accurate are the fighting scenes portrayed?
For anyone with combat experience, can you answer that question? How accurate are the 13 Hours fighting scenes. Does that movie come close to how it really could've been?

Way too much unnecessary lens flair. Also he was too chicken shite to show Obama and Hillary.

Lone Survivor.
You do realize Luttrell exaggerated on a lot of that story right? Dude is made out to be a hero, yet he lies about what happened and then shuns the real hero of the story.

It was horrendous.
Blatant stereotype characters rising to comical levels.
I understand why a lot of baws actually think it was a good movie

Uh, pretty sure the poster Bushmaster is presently en route to a position very much similar to the guys in 13 hours. He had a thread about it last night

It wasn't an awful movie. Definitely made me want to play COD.
