I was gifted the classic flight carry-on and large suitcase by my parents. I've had a briefcase for years from my corporate flying days, but honestly it just collected dust since a duffel was easier to pack in the aircraft nose.

It's beautiful and light-weight, but is aluminum durable enough to justify the price tag?

Seems like this must be a one-time purchase, i.e. the last luggage I'll ever need.

What are your reviews, Rimowa users?

I'm confused. Was it a gift or are you paying for it?

Either way it's worth it in my opinion. I have a Zero Halliburton Aluminum case (the American version of Rimowa) and it can take anything. It has some dents and scratches but it adds character. The inside still looks brand new.

There's an article somewhere where a plane was hijacked and blown up (empty) on the runway and the only things to survive we're two Rimowa cases. So if you travel frequently I think it's worth the cost. They're indestructible.

No it was gifted but I know how expensive they are.

Seems like they would get dented the first time some baggage handler dropped it 3 stories out the rear of a 747.

Have always wondered about the wheels giving out. Wonder if they can be replaced?

The case seems like it would be bulletproof, but what's the point if the wheels are shot after a few years.

They will get a little dented, but it adds to the character.

Here's what mine looked like after it fell and hit concrete:

The one thing I don't like about Rimowa luggage is they don't have inline wheels. And they're exposed and can break easily.

My Halliburton has inline wheels that are protected and any luggage shop could easily replace them if need be.

Halliburton didn't have the corner protectors though, which I like in the Rimowa.
