Depends on how much you use your pool I guess. Also how many trees are in your yard, etc. Most cartridge filters I see on smaller residential pools need to be cleaned about once every 2-3 months and it takes about 15 minutes. I guess its your preference.

i have a shite-ton of trees that overhang the pool. it gets ridiculous in the fall trying to keep the leaves out.

As maintenance, I use algaecide, phosfree, occasional clarifier, stabilizer, etc. Probably average 10 bags (40 lb) of salt per year (@ $8.50/bag).

i use liquid chlorox, baking soda, borax and the occasional bottle of muriatic acid when the PH creeps to high.

threw away all those ridiculous chemicals when i realized chlorine does 99.9% of the work keeping the pool clean.

My reason to never have a pool. My grandpa told me this, my dad tells me this, I listen.

Yes in ground fiberglass. Vikingpools.net.

Not sure what everyone else is doing that cost so much or takes so much time. We add shock and a bag of salt every now and then. Polaris cleans it and except for the leaves in the fall, it's been easy for us. I would buil another, no question.

Fiberglass is textured btw so it's not slippery as you would think.

no but i did spend $60 on the special kit that includes the CYA test and ability to determine chlorine levels way higher than the little taylor troubleshooter.

If in the dallas area depending on municipality and/or neighborhood HOA, gunite may be your only option or the only option you should go with.

No spa. With waterfall and everything about 60k. It's not very big but it's functional for us. Plenty of built in seating in their pools. They have every size and shape you can imagine. My suggestion would be no stamped concrete unless it is very light colored. Ours was darker and it looked like shite with salty footprints everywhere. Finally got fed up and tiled over it.

my big deal is i want easy and low maintenance, even it means paying more

Sometimes in life, you will need to spend a little more than you planned rather than a little less than you should.

how much work do you spend maintaining the pool weekly? also what would you say your monthly costs are?

I spend $225 monthly for a company to service my pool.

This includes 4 weekly service visits and any salt and/or chemicals that need to be added.

Salt. I have had both a chlorine pool and a salt water pool. Salt hands down much easier.

Gunite. Had a liner pool before - anything but that.

Cartridge filter. Sand filters don't filter out as fine as cartridge or DE. Your water will be clearer with a cartridge filter than with sand.
