I lived there for 20 years and my exwife and children still live in the area. In a nutshell Hammond is a cesspool.

. I grew up in Pumpkin Center and graduated from Ponchatoula. I hated Ponchatoula then and avoid it all cost today.

Loved it when I was in college there. If they had any respectable accounting firms closer to there than Baton Rouge or New Orleans I would have stayed.

Lived here for 4 years, about to move for grad school, its a nice town but if I worked here permanently I would definitely look to commute and live in Covington/Mandeville

I've lived in hammond but outside of town on the way to robert
been here since after the storm and I commute to Baton Rouge

I never see any drunk college kids downtown but I'm not there late at night
the old downtown area by the tracks is very cool with good bars and decent places to eat. grocery stores suck. Don't go to walmart

that's all I got

Crescent Bar, some of the coldest draft beer I've ever had....

Mariners Bar burgers rank up there with Port Of Calls..

Did you know the first New Orleans Original Daquaris opened in Hammond in 1983....

I was an SLU graduate in the 80's, some of the craziest times ever....

I am in Mandeville now and considering moving to Hammond. Would like to live close to campus. Went to college there and loved it. Also would consider madisonville.
