Congrats to all! I can't believe it's been seven years since the match for me. I agree with all, the Monday "you have matched!" Email was the best. After that it was just gravy, because I only ranked 4 places. That Sunday, I was regretting that decision. It all worked out in the end I guess.

that is a very noble choice

I had a lady ask me where the elevators were in the hospital yesterday. I pointed her in the right direction, and then she asked what specialty I was in. I said podiatry. She said, "oh it's got to be great working with kids all day." I just smiled and said yes ma'am

PM&R is starting to become the lower competitive "hidden"(not so hidden now) gem to get into.

My wife matched into Uro this year. If you think men get strange looks when they tell people they play with penises all day, imagine the looks I get when I tell other people that's what my WIFE is going to do for the rest of her life. It's all gravy though. We are pumped about where she matched and are ready to get on with it!

Uro is actually on the list for me.

I'm pretty clueless. I'll see what I do on step1 and try to figure out what I like (or don't like, really) when I get into the hospital.

I just want to interact with patients, be paid handsomely, and have a schedule that allows plenty of fishing

If you are struggling with pharm and you're a visual learner, I strongly suggest trying out picmonic. I retain things that I learned early 2nd semester of 2nd year (start of pharm) now over a year later, just from memorizing pictures. It's easy studying. I destroyed that SHELF. You got this.

Every Anesthesiologist I know is just plain weird. Some are really great people, but they're all 50 shades of crazy.

The anesthesiologists I've met have all been super chill with great personalities. I couldn't do it. Too much sitting around and not enough working with my hands.

Boats, look into PM&R if you want that kind of lifestyle. Just as long as you are ok being a patient care team manager for physical therapy and rehab. Or Derm. Or EM. Personally I'm thinking EM. It's getting more competitive though.

ETA: I had no idea there were so many med students on here. Crazy. The OT being the future of medicine is a scary-arse proposition.

I would tell you that you're dreaming but JJ's somehow figured it out. Take lessons from him. Good luck.

Thanks. I'm not really struggling, just a bad procrastinator. Trying to get a leg up on STEP isn't helping my class studying either. And I'm one of those weirdos that loathes mnemonics (I know, crazy)

I'm shooting for EM, but may end up with IM. I don't really have anything I'm 100% against. Except Peds. I do not want Peds. Dealing with a few crazy parents back in my ER-tech days was more than I want to do for the rest of my life
