I've been having this samsung washer and dryer for a 3-4 years now, washer was having all kinds of problems and ended up replacing it. Dryer has been fine up until this morning.

It still dries and all, the problem is it doesnt really cut off. I can press the power button to cut it off and it shows on the screen that it powered off, but it continues to run. As long as the door is closed, that thing will run all day. I even tried to reset it from the back and it still ran in the process of me doing it? Is this something I can easily get fixed come Monday or is it time for a new dryer? Thanks.

My parents Samsung fridge died after only 4 years. I had one that lasted about 3. Total junk.

Go get yourself one of these and thank me later

The new age washers and dryers are overpriced, and breakdown a lot.

It's running after it's cycle is done?

--Bad main control. The Korean's have pretty well priced controls so it won't be that bad.

You can try the thermistor first (I would) as it's a less than $10 part if you buy it yourself. Generally a bad thermistor causes shut down. Nothing in the heater circuit should cause the machine to keep running. That sounds like 100% control board issue.

The only other thing I can think about is a shorted wire. I have seen small dryer fires wreck havoc on electronics. (not saying that's what it is either)

It's something a tech can fix in one day if you live in a city with a supply house that has Samsung control boards in stock. (will need your model and serial number to know which board you use)

You can try going into diagnostic mode and clearing the computer. I can't tell you how to do that unless I know the model number though.

If you are looking Whirlpool go Amana instead, they are still using old style timers and components.

Dryers haven't changed much. I can tear down a new Samsung and a thirty year old Whirlpool and the guts look very similar once the electronics are off.

The only washer and dryer brand I can stand 100% behind is Speed Queen, everyone else has misses.

Whirpool may be the move. My dad had his since I was in HS and never had not one problem with it. And that thing has some years on it too.

Samsung top loader?
Let me gues got a ton of OE or DE codes?

The springs shipped from factory too weak for large loads and they stretched out and caused overload sensor issues. You change them out to the new springs and it's night and day.

Another issue was some units had the drain pump mounted on the tub, you can't even buy that pump anymore, you have to relocate the pump to the floor of the washer (where it belongs).

Those two issues caused countless Samsung washers to go to the scrap yard.

I'm just going to down vote that. A whirlpool VMW washer is like the worst crap you can get.

We call them "throw away washers" half the problems they commonly get cost half the price of the machine to repair.

Unless the model number starts with 401, 402 or 592, then it IS a Samsung.

who makes which Kenmore models (by model number prefix)

Yes. We actually had it sent to the shop a handful of times and they would fix it but a few weeks later it would go out again so we ended up just getting a brand new one altogether. I dont recall it being anything with the springs though.

I have the Samsung washer & dryer. Got them 6 years ago, few minor issues under warranty but I feel I've got my money out of them.

Can't expect a big shaking box not to break eventually.

His 1990's Direct drive washer will outlast any new washer made today, that's how they were built. They are not built like that anymore and I advise against the cheap Whirlpool, particularly the ones with that string of lights next to a lone rubber button. Like posted earlier. They are bad, worse than GE bad. (though could be a step up from Samsung, so there is that)

prior to Janurary 2015 Samsung had not admitted the springs had issues and had no replacement kit. People who are not up to date on the most recent Samsung info missed the Service notes. A lot of people used to change hall sensors and all kinds of other parts chasing the code, when it was the springs the whole time.

Was a headache until the service note came out.
