OT Mechanics: 09 Silverado AFM Lifter Ticking

So my truck, 09 Silverado Crew Cab Z71 with AFM lifters has 106,000 miles on it. About a week ago the lifters on my drivers side started ticking very loudly. Im going to change the oil (possibly use a heavier oil), spray carb cleaner through the push rods onto the lifters, add some seafoam and possibly flush the engine. My concern though is that Ive never flushed it before and I may break up too much sludge and end up breakijg something that was working fine in the process.
I need advixe fellas. What would be yalls suggestions?

Turn it to A.M. the stations aren't as good, but it will make the ticking go away.
Additionally if you have an AUX jack you can just plug that in an listen to your own music. You're welcome

Those aren't factory lifters? Changed at some point?

Prepare thy anus and Google your issue.
It is a known issue with ALL of those engines including my 09 Tahoe. It is a factory defect that Chevrolet refuses to recognize or recall because it would be billions.
The engine is fricked and it happens to every one right around that mileage and then about every 40k thereafter. Take it to the dealer and raise hell. Chevy will offer to pay a portion of the repairs but it will still cost you about $1,500. They are going to need to tear the heads apart and replace the lifters and valves. In most cases, you hear the ticking only when the lifter is actually broken which means the broken portion has scarred your cam and that will need to be replaced as well. That was my case. I did it a year ago and it is already burning oil again.

Disclaimer. I am no mechanic and have no idea what I'm talking about. I have 2002 Z71 that stated making an unbelievable noise 2 or 3 years ago. I stopped at my mechanic's shop and he told me it was my lifters. He suggested switching to Shell Rotella diesel oil. The noise immediately stopped and hasn't returned. I'm sure this didn't solve issue but I have got another 50K miles out of truck so far and plan on driving it tll it dies.

DOD delete will solve this, THE AFM lifters are known to fail very early and it's not too bad of a swap. You can keep the factory cam and just need new lifters and valley cover

My Suburban had this issue. If I remember correctly it was going to cost about 3K to fix the top end. I traded after getting the codes deleted.

Damn that happened to mine also. fricked the cam up and it was over $5500 in warranty covered repairs.

But really, I had a 09 Silverado with 82k miles & 4.8, had a ticking noise, but was fuel pump (actually covered under powertrain warranty, surprisingly). Originally I thought the same thing with lifters, after research, when I heard the noise and was looking to get out of it asap afterward.

It was the lifters. I got the the rocker arms, removed the pushrods cleaned them with B12 like a mofo and pooled some on the lifters. Then I flushed the engine. Dropped the oil pan to make sure I didnt clog up anything to major and now it's running like a dream and I'm going to Dallas to trade it in today lol.b
