Cruise control on my 2007 Silverado is out and the brake light switch is the usual culprit. I've got the retention clip off and I'm looking to remove the bolt that holds the switch to the brake rod.

This bolt is round on the outside head with a threaded insert in the center of the bolt head. How in the &*$# do I get this bolt off.

The metal clip slides off the end and you remove the pin.

The problem is that the bolt is designed as round on the outside with a threaded "hole" in the center of the bolt head.

I've got the clip off. Now there is a "bolt" with nothing to grab on to.

I think the "bolt" is actually just a cam and it slides out.
