out of all the famous names we've heard and seen in movies.... who was the baddest/most infamous outlaw, who was the greatest lawman, who was the greatest cowboy?

Just look up Tombstone.
Best lawman, Wyat Earp.
Baddest mofo with a gun in his hand, Doc Holliday.
Best cowboy, hell if I know.

Fun fact: 19th century NYC was by far more violent than the Wild West.

Any damsel that's in distress, be outta that dress when she meet Jim West.
Swallow your pride. Don't let your lip react.
You don't wanna see my hand where my hip be at.
Wicky wild. Wicky wild. Wicky wild wild west

Not the most famous, but the baddest outlaw was Clay Allison. I go with Wild Bill Hickok as the best gunman..And Wyatt Earp as best lawman.

Doc Holliday was good at killing shots of whiskey, not a good shot at all. About the only part of Tombstone that was accurate about Holliday was that he used a double barrel 10 gage at the OK Corral. It was the only way he could hit anything.

Look up Judge Roy Bean, he was the "Law West of the Pecos". His courtroom doubled as a saloon, and the hanging tree was right next to the entrance.

That recent version with will smith was bullshite... any guess why they put him as West, since the original James West was played by Conrad and of totally different persuasion?

"Big Nose" George Parrot was a pretty infamous outlaw from the Powder River/Hole in the Wall region of Wyoming - robbing trains, stagecoaches, and supposedly the biggest cattle rustler in the Powder River basin. There are some legendary stories about him - including this one about his death...
He was captured after robbing a Union Pacific train and killing two deputies. Sentenced to hang, he broke out of prison but was recaptured shortly thereafter. They take him out to hang him, tie the rope around his neck and he drops...the rope breaks. While they are looking for another rope, someone just grabs a gun and shoots him.
Don't know about "greatest" cowboy, but one of the more overlooked ones is Bill Pickett. The son of a former slave, he quit school after 5th grade to become a ranch hand in Texas. He is credited with inventing "bulldogging," which morphed into what is now known as the rodeo event of steer wrestling.
