Bought the Makita 18 volt combo from Home Depot but brought it back. I've always used Makita power tools in the past but i noticed the Lithium battery is only 3.0 ah.

And has a brushed motor.

After seeing that other companies are offering 5.0 ah lithium batteries and brushless motors in their drills i decided to not even open the Makita package up and look elsewhere.

I see Porter Cable offers a 20 volt drill but i haven't ever used that brand. Milwaukee i've heard good things about but they're very expensive compared to the other offerings i've seen.

Do you use it daily or pretty often? If so go Milwaukee. My step dad has been using Milwaukee for yrs and I'll tell you that if that man can't kill it no one can.

For homeowner DIY use, I've been happy with the Ridgids since I've had them for the last 2 years. Go ahead and get the drill and impact driver combo. Lifetime warranty on the batteries with Ridgid as well.

Dewalts are good too, but the warranty on the batteries is what sold me on Ridgid.

I went with the Milwaukee 18v fuel brushless combo two months ago when I started building my house. It can turn a 1" auger bit through multiple 2x4s without a prob.

I have the Dewalt and have no complaints at all. The set came with the impact driver which is nice. 2 guys I work with have the Rigids and love them.

I think it's hard to go wrong with any of the top name brands.

I bought the dewalt 20v and have been happy. Same price as the milwaukee but came with two batteries. Think it was $200

i've never had a drill fail on me. It's always the battery. Plus i see Rigid does not offer a high ah battery like i asked about in the OP.

$100 for a piece of crap ryobi with only a 3/8 " chuck?

And a 1.5 ah battery?

Yup, dead serious, that thing kicks arse for projects around the house.

And it gets great gas mileage.

why would you opt to pay $100 for that when you could have bought a Makita or Dewalt with 1/2" chucks for the same price?
