OT help: mid life crises

Does it typically hit late 40s? I’m 46, and just don’t have motivation.
I know everything there is to know about my industry (been in it for 20+ years), don’t feel like going to work.
I’ve saved a lot of money but with healthcare and Texas property taxes too early to call it quits.
Tired of going to the gym…have done that every morning for the last 20-30 years as well.
My weekends revolve around forcing myself to watch LSU then play a round of golf knowing I’ll shoot a similar score to the weekend before.
Older OTers…how did you get thru these times? This is BabyTac asking for help. Is it burnout or just needing a change? I don’t think buying a corvette and getting a 20 year old side piece is the answer.

Plan a second wedding. Destination is preferred.

Well, there are other positions besides missionary.

I’m 42 and I still enjoy going to the gym and I still enjoy kicking the younger dudes asses on my sales team I’ve been at the same company for 21 years but in the process of moving to Houston so that’s my big change.
Maybe TRT to get a little extra boost?

Find a new hobby, like woodworking, or beekeeping...or woodkeeping.
Learn to make mead, or bake bread, or bread mead.

Sounds like burn-out. I would plan a 10 day vacation to somewhere you’ve always wanted to go. You’ll come back feeling like a new man.

Hit it once, and break away clean.

Have another kid. I’m 48 and have three kids under the age of 8. I’m too tired to be bored because all of my focus is on them.

Start your own company?

Get a mistress.
But whatever you do don't end up being a Lance Armstrong riding a bike in tight clothes mid life crisis guy.

Sounds like you need a good dose of hookers and blow.

I second this suggestion.

You have arrived at your midlife destination. It is normal that when you arrive at your destination, there is a letdown. So here is what I suggest; focus on nurturing all your relationships. Focus on anything that brings your life depth and meaning. And for the love of God, if you are a successful man who has sacrificed and achieved in the service of others, and want to do something for yourself, don’t call it a “ crisis”. That’s a feminist construct that it’s a crisis if a man chooses to divert his resources to himself now and again. Don’t buy in to that crap. You earned it and there is no crisis if you decide you want something you’ve spent a lifetime denying yourself.

I’m 45. Feel similar. Not hormones, checked. I think it’s just the grind of it all for me. Kids, career and family. I think I need more solo time. Hunting, fishing and camping are things I have considered that are adventurous. Starting a company is something I’m considering.
