Doctors, as a general rule, love to lecture everyone else on how the majority of the country are looking for handouts, and the big bad government would do best not to stick its nose in their profession because they are all-knowing.

Meanwhile, I have noticed doctors growing increasingly lazy over the years, quick to only half-way listen to a patient while simply scribbling a scrip for whatever the newest drug they are being paid to push.

Doctors love to lecture the rest of us in private on how the world is going to shite, meanwhile they've scheduled their day into 15 minute windows with a calculated insurance payout for each window. These guys are some of the biggest leeches out there.

I saw a doctor yesterday who didn't even stay in the room long enough to sit down. I spent more time with the nurse taking the basic vitals and answering those ridiculous generic questions. I'd be surprised if he spent more than 3 minutes in the room. He simply reads the nurses notes, scribbles the Rx, and leaves, done before he even entered the room because he knew he was going to bill my insurance company the same no matter how much effort he put into it.

No wonder they're pissed NPs are about to wreck shop on their boutique profession. I'll be damned if a nurse can't practice general medicine better than a general practice physician.

What are the OTs experiences?

I can agree. I went to a dermatologist last week who looked at my chest and back for melanoma for MAYBE 45 seconds. His excuse for not checking anywhere else is that "it's a million to one odds that someone your age has melanoma below the waist. It probably took me longer to pay and get a receipt than actually get checked out.

There was probably nothing wrong with you, thats why he didn't come in and spend 45 min listening to you tell him he's wrong and that you looked something up on the internet and know that you need X drug or X treatment.

dermatologist's are generally the top of their classes and spend along time training, sorry they immediately can look at something and know its not serious. Would you have rather them spent 30 min looking at it and tell you the same thing?

If you try to get an appointment at the last minute you're gonna get the a-hole nobody wants to see. Do your research and be a proactive consumer, not a bitch on a messageboard.

Actually, it's due to the government and undue paperwork and regulation that doctors seem harried. The system has turned them into admin.

Navy Corpsmen didn't go to medical school.

That wasn't a doctor you saw.

I am not really getting into this, but I will say. The last time I went to the doctor, I asked him a question and he broke out his phone and googled it.. Seriously.

Are y'all serious? The reason primary care doctors can't spend a bunch of time with patients anymore is your insurance company is cutting their fees and fighting them on every charge. If they did not see as many patients as possible, their income would go down even more than it may have already. While you may not care if your doc earns less, lower pay plus insurance hassle will lead to your doc retiring. And there will not be as many med students in the future who will want that job. You will be even unhappier in the future when you cannot get an appointment for months or can only see a nurse practitioner or physician's asst. If you want a physician to spend time with you, go to one of the private pay docs who do not accept insurance. But you will have to pay for it.

You can't possibly expect them to know the answer to every possible medical question they are asked, can you?

Yes.

To most new docs are more concerned with getting a trophy wife and a 600k house than your problems. You are just a necessary inconvenience.

Yeah about 10 years ago I got my first ever hemorrhoid. Didn't know wtf it was and went in to get it checked out. Well my doc had some fricking kid that looked like 22 that came in like 10 minutes before he did. I shite you not this dude had me bending over a table and was looking in to my a-hole while holding some kind of handheld computer up next to my arse for comparison.

More of the Poor, Poor Docs drivel

Any business-savy person or non-a-hole knows you don't take it out on the people who pay your bills.

I ain't asking the guy to jump up on the table and dance, but a handshake and a seat for 15 minutes would be nice.

Obama care is destroying medicine. Doctors work on production and don't have enough time to spend with their patients. It's a disaster and getting worse daily.

No but next time, why not just tell me. Google all your questions before you come in and tell me what you think I should do.
