Sorry for the premature post

Anyway I just moved in to this place and this is in my bedroom ceiling. Looks cool but it's going to be annoying on mornings I sleep in. It's about 6 inches out of reach when I stand on my bed. Any ideas for something easy to open/close to cover it when I want darkness? Some kind of ]

Would nail some ply over it, seems you should ask the OT decorators.

Wish I could help. Who puts a skylight in their bedroom?

They do have battery powered shades that can be custom sized. Might be pricey.

Wear a sleep mask when you want to sleep late.

Least damaging would be to go get some wood glue and 1x1's. Glue em around the edge of the light, then nail plywood cover on (on the roof side)

Or take the easy way and just tape and cover with duct tape or tinfoil

Pretty cool idea. Just need a stick of some sort to move the curtain.

Apparently they also make cushions that can be shoved into the hole.

Plenty of options by just Google image searching "covering skylight inside"

Just get some window film to darken it. They sell it at lowes and home depot.

Was also thinking of the ghetto tint. No sunshine though.

It's like impossible to get all the way to the window. Window is a good 6 feet above that opening(which is out of reach by a few inches when I stand on the bed and I'm 6 feet tall).

I do have roof access and could do an external cover but it's something I'd rather be able to open/close easier than walking upstairs at night. But it's a decent cheap option I guess for me to do on a Friday or Saturday when I can sleep in. Most other days I'm up with the sunrise.

I don't know about covering it, but I'm in the glass business and I've never met a skylight that didn't leak. Hope you don't own the place.

Amen to that. We just tore one out of my daughter's house. Covered hole with plywood, tar paper, shingles. No more leaking.

Nah it's a year rental. I definitely wouldn't buy an apartment with a bedroom skylight but it's really convenient location.

I wonder if that is because it is always humid out there because I have always had skylights in AZ and never has even a drop of water get through
