I'm getting married and planning to have the groomsmen wear suits, which I'm going to buy for them. Anyone else done this? Been a part of a wedding and had the groom do this? Thoughts?

And if you've done it, any recommendations on where to get the suits? I have 6 groomsmen literally spread around the world, so I'm trying to make it as convenient as possible.

I did this...bought them from Jos A Bank. Same deal here re: people living all over.

Jos Bank buy one get two free deal sounds like the way to go.

I was in a wedding and the groom bought us suits like this and our groomsman gift was a nice tiebar and an Hermes tie (used in the wedding)

I'd say thats a pretty solid groomsman gift. I'd be appreciative of that for sure.

This is what I did for my wedding back in June. Although, I didn't buy them. I bought everyone's ties (and team branded golf club covers). Considering everyone had a white dress shirt and black shoes already, they paid less than $200 for a suit they would get to keep. It's so much better than paying that for a tux for one night.

I did that. Place I bought from closed down though. Almost anywhere is going to cut you a deal if you are buying like 7 to 10 of the same suit. They make a bulk order after getting everyone's measurements. As far as people being everywhere, I had one groomsman send in his measurements, go in before the rehearsal for final alterations, and pick up the morning of the wedding.

This is the ONLY way to go, IMO. When they have a deal like this, you can get several suits for around $200 each. And, as another poster said, you can't argue with the fact that you get to keep it for a long time (as opposed to a tuxedo that someone else has worn and you have to return the next day). I had 6 groomsmen and 2 ushers...none of them had any problem shelling out money for a suit at that price.

Groomsmen gift idea: I bought them the necktie and matching pocket square to wear for the ceremony. Worked out great.

My brother-in-law bought the tuxedos for his groomsman. They weren't super nice, but after spending $50 to have it altered, I got a pretty decent tux for the price I paid. Came with the shirt, ties, socks, shoes, cuffs, etc.

I think the brand was Cardif or something like that.

For a different wedding, we bought our own suits, but the groom got them for buy one get one free at Men's Warehouse, so we paired up and only spent $200/person. Maybe look into that. What are you trying to spend per suit?

Damn that's gonna be pretty expensive. I would pick a common color suit and ask that they wear the same. Maybe you could coordinate shirts and ties but buying six extra suits seems unnecessary.

At least go one better and get Men's Wearhouse. They usually do BOGO or will at least deal with you if you're going to be getting 4+ at once. You also need to join their reward club and you should get some ties, shirts or a sport coat free like I did.

Solid. Just about every wedding I've been in, they always dump those costs on us which is annoying as f*ck so props to you for not being a bitch poor
