I think I either fractured a rib or pulled a muscle in my rib cage falling off a sled last week. I haven't seen a doctor, I'm not in intense pain, but I definitely can't do any working out just yet. I'm pretty sure I'll be letting my body heal for the next two weeks plus.

Before I got hurt I was doing P90X3 and taking it for granted. I didn't know how much I would miss it until I couldn't do it everyday. Injuries are the absolute worst. I wake up early in the morning and want to get it done, but instead I go straight to the shower and am miserable all day.

How do you cope with an injury when you're used to a good workout routine? I am running as that's about all I can do right now. And it blows. Hard.

Just take time to let it heal. If you try to come back too early you'll just make it worse. Use that time in the morning to do something productive.

You can try some other type of exercise that doesn't affect the injured area... that may be hard to do with a core injury though, as that hurts no matter how you move.

I hAve a similar injury that has caused me to stop playing golf. I can lift heavy without pain but the golf swing motion just kills me.

If you fractured a rib, you wont think, you will know.

if you broke a rib, you'd know it every time you took a deep breath, coughed or sneezed...it's knee buckling pain.

so the good news is that it sounds like a muscle strain, and those will heal much, much faster than a broken rib, so you won't be out of commission near as long. but it's important to let it heal properly.

while the loss of your routine may have you off-center, you'll be surprised how much the body remembers when it comes time to get after it again.

About the broken rib, that was one of the things I was reading about--it's intense pain and it hurts to breath. I don't have that symptom, but it does hurt when I bend down to tie my shoes or pull my socks up. I have range of motion horizontally and vertically with almost no pain.

I put some stuff in the attic last night and it was kind of tough to do...it will be a few weeks yet. And it is a bummer.

If you're running you're not injured.

I have elbow tendinitis that flares up here and there. Makes it nearly impossible to do curls with much weight. Luckily that is about all it effects.

So if I can run I don't have a pulled muscle in my rib cage? Or are you saying a muscle pull isn't an injury?

elbow tendinitis

Had this in both elbows. Killed my drive to lift. Couldn't extend my elbows without sharp pain. Even hurt positioning the bar for squat. Finally healed completely after 3 months.
