was the guy watching a game? Porn? I mean I agree he ought to interact with his kids. But that may be a new Casting Couch or fake taxi video he's watching.

Sometimes at a restaurant I look around and my wife, both kids, and myself are all on the phone.

I absolutely hate it when I see this at restaurants.

What's worse is when one or more kids have earphones in. WTF kind of family gathering is that?

Guilty of this. Blink and my girl is almost 2. Left my phone at home last night when we went to dinner. It was a nice change.

Parent or no, if you pull out your phone at a meal then you're a piece of shite.

When I was working and we went out to eat lunch we had a rule , all phone are stacked on the table, first one that touches a phone picks up the bill.

In a restaurant watching a bubba with two sons. Mofo has not looked away from his phone in 15 minutes.

A lot of us bitched about our dads being at work all the time
Was he on FB or was he working? Plenty of folks are on call and don't have the choice to put the phone down.

But yea, he was probably on FB.

Well you are kind of judging the type of father this guy is based on your particular 10 minutes of visual contact. Maybe this dude had the whole day of shite he's doing with his kids and his eating time was time he was just relaxing for some damn time...

Exactly. After being up since 5:30 am playing legos, water colors, play doh, changing a diaper, cleaning up spilled milk, putting a band aid on a skinned knee, letting him help you pull some weeds, chasing him around the house playing "monster", playing with the ukelele, reading 14 books, and you go to get a beer after a long day and realize its only 10 am... yeah sometimes you just have to zone out on your phone for a little while. With a 10am beer.

Fathers today do a hell of alot more than what fathers in the past did.... mainly because women of today do alot more than their mothers did, so dads are forced to play a much, much, much larger role than previous generations.

tl;dr gfy grampa

How is me putting my phone down going to help any? I couldn't pick my kids out of a lineup if my life depended on it.

Yeah. See I did all that too. Except I did it right by my MF self because their mom was completely paralyzed. Oh yeah. Took care of her too. GFY right back, snowflake.

Wish I had more upvotes to give.

I admit I do look at my phone a lot, and sometimes when I shouldn't like behind the wheel of a vehicle, etc.

But when it comes to spending time with my wife and kids, especially when eating together, the phone doesn't come with me to the table. Nothing I like more than hearing my kids talk about their day.

Maybe not. But millennial boy justified his phone absorption by saying he already did enough. KMA.

Good for you, and I'm sorry to hear about your wife.

Alot of men might have tried to find a way out of that situation.
