Unetbootin + USB stick + any linux just about.
Download unetbootin on your main laptop. buy a usb stick. download ubuntu or whatever. open unetbootin, select ubuntu or whatever you downloaded and select your usb stick.
take said usb stick and plug it into your old laptop. boot from usb. find your file and copy to usb stick.
seriously, if you already have a usb stick (99% of people do) and a decent internet connection, this will take you less than 10 mins.
