Didn't find the answer there, but apparently you did. So what is it?

When I took chemistry in college our professor was blowing stuff up every other class- thermite, oxygen, hydrogen AND oxygen (much louder, yet safer-think water), sodium in water...
I learned to always follow directions for things that can kill you .

I was thinking maybe liquid methane/oxygen?
Both of those are super cold at liquid phases, and I didn't see any condensation, so probably not...

Let it be skittles.
Let it be skittles.
Let it be skittles.
That would be fantastic.
Nobody knew about strawberry pop tarts until everybody knew about strawberry pop tarts.
ETA:
Taste the flame-bow!
I can see it now!

It looks like he has something on fire over liquid nitrogen. When are pours it out, the liquid nitrogen will run carrying whatever is burning with it but dissipates quickly.

My Chem 2 teacher in high school had Fire Fridays. Every Friday, he did some awesome demonstration like this.

Looks like some alkaline metal and water

I bet a risk manager would have a heart attack watching that. That's awesome.

This is what it looks like to me...or as a later poster called it...an alkali metal.
There are definitely solid chunks in there that scoot across the floor.
It could be sodium metal pellets in bilayer liquid material...the bottom layer not being flammable to the sodium and the top layer being so...so that it ignites the sodium on pouring.
I've never seen this audience interactive trick before.

Read the goddam books, I don't care. It's fiction.

There'd probably be a cracked tile or tiny crater if it was K or Na

Space Food Sticks were the best thing to come out of the Apollo Program.
> Tang
> Dehydrated Ice Cream
> Pop Tarts
Look at he^r face, if that doesn't say "ecstasy" I don't know what does!

I found this video that looks similar.

You would need the liquid nitrogen to keep the methane in a liquid state until ready to burn. Cool experiment.
