I personally prefer the BMW 6 series grand coupe. It's a little tighter on space in the back and has a lower roofline but it is a very attractive car. It would be a between rhe a5 and a7. Between the a7 and jag I would have to go with the a7 for driving dynamics. The jag has come a long way but still doesn't perform like the German cars. They have gotten more reliable but still have their issues. One other thing appealing about the BMW is their maintenance program. Hard to beat on a high end luxury car when repair and maintenance can be costly.

No.

The S7 starts at $82500 and the RS7 starts at $106500.

The new Jags rate very well from both a quality and fun quotient. The company has shed it's dismal British Leyland record of poor quality. Ford Motor Company sank billions into modernizing the production plants and quality control. The company since sold to an Indian Company has carried that further along as well. It depends on what you like, but the Jag has cut a lot of weight through use of alloys and to me is more fun than an Audi 5 or 7, both of which have a Quattro all wheel system that makes the car handle benignly but uninspiring. The German interior is first rate in fit and finish, but very Teutonic and Spartan compared to the Jaguar. The British use of Connelly hides and wood interior pieces is very nice in its own right. In the eighty grand range there are several good choices and I would hit the BMW dealers as well as Mercedes and look at the six series four door coupe and the Mercedes CLS. But in a head to head between a Jag and Audi I like the Jag.

100% correct. The old "buy 2, so you'll have 1" is an ancient saying that isn't true anymore.

I was concerned about TATA, but they seem to be continuing Ford's legacy, at least from a quality standpoint

Yes! TATA is the name I couldn't remember. I like that the car has kept the British feel but they aren't so retro as before in design.

VetteGuy?
Change of pace but have you spent much time looking over the C7? What is your opinion.

Specing one out today, matter of fact.

Would love a Z06, but they will be going for well over list for awhile. They cured the one Achilles's heel the car has had for awhile; the interior.

Now, you can get really nice seats, suede appointments, and nice leather.

The vert I'm looking at is 450HP, 7 speed manual.
5yr/100K powertrain warranty.

I love the new Corvette and it's a car I didn't particularly like in the past. Mostly due to the crappy interior.

I was going to say M3 BMW but I don't like the new ones as much as ones in the past.

M5 is out of price range.

Way out of price range is a 911 turbo s. I was behind one this morning...damn that is a fine fricking car. So badass

OP wants a more comfortable ride. You just made a list of stiff, unforgiving riding cars.

Yes, the 911 Turbo S is ridiculous in every way.

Do you not see a difference between these:

and these:

?

ETA: And yes I'm aware that's a 911 GT3 and not a turbo. Pic was for vehicle size purposes.

The interior with the greys and bad plastic of the older variants was what kept me from loving the car. I've only peeked inside of a new one but it looks so much better..
Outside of older collectibles I've never owned an American car. I think I'm due for one.
What package have you settled on. I believe there are three different base ones if I'm remembering correctly.

Just mentioned a few cars, ya count

And the difference is that the first two are badass and look much better than the last two.

I agree I have the e46 version of the M3 and it is just a fine machine. Mine has 81k on it now and is my favorite car I own.
For comparison of how I feel about the BMW, a Porsche Carrera C4S has been sitting for over a month un driven because the M3 is just the more rewarding drive.
