this is a transparent attempt to promote his own selfish interest and deny patients the right to choose their own mode of treatment
this clown is an anti-free market proponent of a socialized the medical system
i say we beat the shite out of him

As an MD I'm embarrassed to call you a colleague. Some of my best co-residents are DOs and you would never know unless you saw it on their coat. This isn't the fricking 80s, it's time to grow up. They produce great physicians the same as MD programs do. This state needs more physicians, unless you are cool with NPs filling that gap?

Ok so MCAT and College grades mean absolutely nothing. Those are just factors in getting in. They do not determine whether you are a good physician. So you are saying their schools are smaller and have less resources so they are therefore pseudoscience? Do you actually know anything specific about these schools?
Posted on 6/3/17 at 8:35 pm to LATigerdoc
Well, they apply to the same residencies as MDs & we all know (as another poster said) that's where the majority of your knowledge comes from. The science is important, but the hands on experience is key. As long as you know how to use your resources, one will be just fine. Who is to say the person graduating last in medical school is any better than the ones graduating top of their class in DO school? You get out what you put in to your education.

I am saying their field is based on musculoskeletal manipulation which is not science

We are trying to compare all MDs to all dos

You literally have no argument.
Individuals like you are literally being pushed out of healthcare slowly by my generation because you guys cannot adapt to the healthcare model change.

Shreveport will be just fine...this school at ULM is needed and there should be either a med school or a DO school in Alexandria as well...

DO here tigerdoc
Did my training at a new DO school in Mississippi, trained years 3/4 at ummc in Jackson
Got into my first choice allopathic residency in Louisiana
Wish I could forward you my grades from years 3 and 4 from life time educators in a historical allopathic teaching hospital. Including acknowledgement of the strengths of my didactic knowledge
You're short sided and your past experiences with some osteopathic physicians probably skewed your perception of all of us. I am sorry you're not able to understand that sir/ma'am.

I've been a DO General Surgeon for 20 years now. Anything you want to know about my training, fire away. I'm sure I can handle it. Me and my wife ( no pics)are looking to come back home after 25 years out of State. I'll be in Eunice on Wednesday this week to look at a job at the Acadiana hospital. Hope this sentiment isn't widespread....

Can you share any evidence with us that DO's provide substandard care and cause harm?
That is the only important measure in my opinion.

If you looked at the principles of manipulative medicine... you would understand how much sense it makes
If you've studied it, practiced it, seen its results and still are calling it a "pseudo-science"...
Then more power to you. But I guarantee you haven't.
FYI in osteopathic school ... first and second year curriculum is nearly identical to allopathic medicine but we also do over 6-10 hours a week of OMM

Good one. If you call palpating of the right upper quadrant during patient inspiration, then yes I do.
