Trying to book a flight and Frontier and Spirit are both significantly cheaper than other airlines. I know Spirit is shite, but anyone have experienced Frontier? Opinions?

It's a place to sit for a couple hours to get from point A to point B.

Is there really that big of a difference?

I would say it is between Spirit and Southwest.

Spirit is shite from what i have heard, unless you are traveling without any bags or anything.

I've never flown Spirit but I believe they have a reputation for nickling and diming for just about everything and before you know it you've been bamboozled.

Just look up the baggage prices and see if you still save. Also, I've heard they are prone to delays.

make sure with all your fees, to and from, another better airline isnt at somewhat equal pricing

I use Frontier often... It's cheep and clean.

Here are the basics:

I carry a book sack on free - if you are checking bags pay online before hand
No free concessions except tap water
Arrive extra early bc the flights leave at (if not before) the printed time

Don't let these people dissuade you... I missed a flight bc the airport was packed and I arrived late. They transferred my ticket to later that day for $50. I can't stress it enough, arrive 2 hours early.

ETA It's cheaper to pay for your checked bag before hand.

Frontier will be the first to cancel on you if the weather is bad.

I don't mind it when I go to Denver to visit family for a weekend and can just go with a backpack.

I used it over Christmas though and with snowboard gear and extra luggage they get you on the baggage fees.

I wouldn't fly frontier if my flight was going to be over two hours. Seats are plastic. You can pay 20 for a nice one though. it's a good deal for a short flight though.

I have flown frontier once and the crew nor the employee at the counter even showed up. Some guy came in like 30 minutes after our supposed departure time and informed us no one was coming and we were basically SOL. Felt bad for the guy because he had clearly gotten screwed and made to come in when he wasn't supposed to be working, but still they shite the bed pretty bad.
