Demographics of Dallas (not exact): 42% Hispanic, 30% White, 22% Black. Completely different demographics than Shreveport. Culture is much more Uppity than LA

Demographics of Nola: 59% Black, 34% White, 5% Hispanic. Nearly identical to Shreveport

Demographics of Shreveport: 57% Black, 37% White, 3% Hispanic. Nearly identical to Nola, but obviously different culture in terms of French owning pre 1800's.

All this to say that Shreveport is more like Nola than Dallas, but if you really want to compare Shreveport to the most similar region, Mississippi and Alabama are the best to compare to. People in Shreveport talk extremely similarly to MS, AL in my experience, like to bass fish, hunt, dip, like college football, cultures are similar. Your average 25 year old in Dallas does not like these things. In my experience, this culture extends like 50 miles into Texas. East Texas came after Shreveport in terms of white settling.

Sorry for being against treating the state like your own personal garbage can.

It's more than that. I've been to Highland Park and the amount of woman there I saw with lip injections that made their lips 2 inches tall, with massive cheeks swollen from botox and fake breasts was staggering. It was like 1 in 2 or 3 woman at this strip of clothing stores in Highland Park.

Haven't seen this anywhere else in Texas.

Shreveport

Gets a lot of shite, deservedly. It has crime and violence problems.

Coming from a small town in CENLA, I love Shreveport and the things it has to offer. Good location between Dallas, Texarkana and BR/NOLA when it comes to travel.

I live in a good area of town, and very rarely put myself in position to be taken advantage of by going to bad areas at the wrong time.

Pro tip: The biscuits and gravy at Shoppers Value on Jewella just South of Hollywood are the best I've ever had. That said, I go between 6-8:30 am. And I go strapped.

I’m from Nola and reside in Shreveport and I agree. Only thing is all the Cowboys fans here. Have to go to Monroe to get to the Saints fans, maybe Ruston

Is being like NOLA a good thing in this comp?

Because I’d rather live a lot of places, including Dallas-which I loathe, than New Orleans.

2 things

Highland Park is not Dallas. Its it's own city as is University Park where SMU is located.

Highland Park is where a ton of the "old money" in DFW lives. Old money doing old money things shouldn't be all that surprising. Are you seriously going to try to say all the old money women don't puff up their lips and get fake boobs in Louisiana too?

Most of the Hispanics in the New Orleans area live in Jefferson Parish (Kenner, western Metairie, Gretna, Terrytown). They mostly work in Nola so the population seems higher than it actually is.

Shreveport is very similar to Montgomery, AL. Both decaying cities that are long gone from their heyday and with meh suburbs.
