I have the XDS 9 and XD40. The trigger on the XD40 is much smoother but I've gotten the XDS close with a trigger kit.

XDS is a fine shooter. I'm going to be getting the Shield because I like it's fit to my hand better.

It's really the only reason I'm going with the Shield.

Great post as it defines the x factor that no gun store guru or the guy that is in the gun department at Academy every day can tell you: How the gun feels to you. I love my Springfields and the Shield is a fine firearm. Both will treat you right.

I have the Shield and it is a great, cheap fun. Slim profile, highly accurate (maybe that's just me).

EDC is an XDS 45, it is a good pistol that always performs. IMO it handles better than you would expect from a small frame 45.

I don't have experience with either, but I did like the shield .380 when I shot it. Have you considered the Ruger LC9S? One of the sweetest trigger pulls I've seen on a handgun and extremely reliable.

After the Glock 19 the 9mm Shield may be the most popular pistol.

If you need a skinny gun go for the Ruger LCP9s it's what my woman uses and it's skinny as hell

Glock G19 is the GOAT carry weapon. I carry mine inside the waistband. Doublestack and dependable as he'll. I looked very hard at the XDS' s and tried them all in my hip carrier. Just couldn't justify having half the capacity for 1/2" Skinner frame. Nobody has ever been able to tell I'm carrying my G19

I vote Shield, but get whatever you like best. They are both good guns

This! They're both excellent guns. It all comes down to which fits you best and which one feels better when you shoot it. I went with the Shield 9.

Best friend has a Shield in .40 and I have a Go in 9mm.
From 20 yards away were are both much better with the G19.
Have not idea why but the heavier G19 just shoots so damn much better in both of our hands.

Simple physics. A heavier gun is always going to absorb more recoil than a smaller, lighter gun.

I had a Shield in 40 at first but it kicked like a beast and literally hurt my hand after shooting a few mags thru it. Sold it and bought a 9.

Opinion of a pistol

Why should I care about the opinions of an inanimate object?

I wonder exactly how much heavier the G19 is comparable to the Shield. To lazy to look it up, lol.

An inch more of barrel, slide, polymer frame and 7 more bullets... I'd say it's a good bit more.

I draw my Shield and it naturally comes up exactly where it needs to be every time. No moving around looking for sights

Same here. Not as angled back as a glock. It's more similar to my 1911's which I'm partial to.
