I just bought a Springfield XDS 9mm. I have been looking to get my first single stack because I've gained a little weight (I know, trashy fatass) so my EDC double stack was starting to get uncomforfable. I know I should lose weight instead of getting a thinner pistol, but whatever.

So I narrowed my search to the XDS and Smith & Wesson M&P Shield. The XDS was about $40 more and will be my first experience with Springfield. I'm partial to Glocks and S&W normally, but this gun just looks and feels so good.

Any of you have any experience with this gun or Springfield? Will I be disappointed or pleasantly surprised? TIA

I love my Springfield. It is accurate, has never jammed or miss fired, and I have 1,000s of Roy SS through it.

Debated internally where I should put it. I'll try there.

The Pistol is probably in favor of the 2nd amendment, if I had to guess its opinion.

I have an Xdm 5.25 inch Harrell and love it. Very comfortable to shoot and accurate, never jams.

I bought thay exact gun last year. I love it, easy to shoot, comfortable feel. I'm not to keen on the shorter mag though, feels funny without my pinky on the gun.

I vote Shield, but get whatever you like best. They are both good guns

The shield is a fine gun, but I prefer the XDS. I have both and I rarely carry the shield. The XDS just fits me better.

My EDC is the Springfield XDS 3.3 9MM. I absolutely love shooting it.

Get you some federal HST 124gr ammo.

Shield

I popped a snake twice in quick succession a few weeks ago from 5 yards with my shield.

I can hit a 8" metal plate from 50 yards with it 7/10 times.

I'm not near as accurate with my glock 23.

That's all I got.

The XDS9mm is my truck gun.

Nice pistol but two complaints;

1) The slide finish is prone to surface rust. The Glock Tenifer finish is much more corrosion resistant.

2) Should you try and change the sights they are a bitch to change, esp. the front. I have a P500 sight pusher (the right tool for the job) and barely got it done. I have heard they use a hydraulic press to seat them at the factory. Again, Glock has them beat here with the screw on front sight.

I own one and don't worship the Glock but that is what I have noticed.

XDS is a fine shooter. I'm going to be getting the Shield because I like it's fit to my hand better.

It's really the only reason I'm going with the Shield.

If you're partial to Glock consider Glock 42.

Thanks for the input guys. I had already bought the XDS and was just looking for experiences.

I was down to the XDS or the Shield. I shot my buddy's Glock 42 and hated it. And I love the two Glock I have (19 & 22).

I may go back and get the Shield as well after we go to the range tomorrow. I'll just tell the wife one is for her. That way she can't bitch too much about the extra $300-400 spent.
