yes, this is what I have, I know... but this is not a diagnosis, it's just a word for shared symptoms.

It's actually both. But there's some stuff in that article about treatment options, including meds, injections, and surgical interventions that I thought you might find helpful.

sorry, one of the symptoms is "might turn in to an a-hole"...b/c that is one thing that is happening... Yea, I'm interested in the injection, but it hasn't been offered yet.

Best punchline related to the OP:

"That wine is wonderful tasting but it sure is hell on my a-hole!"

Go to a chiropractor. My back and tailbone are better than they have been in 15 years

seems to be working out ok, as I don't hear him complaining at all anymore...apparently, the surgery to remove it is just easy as hell...

Hank Hill had this, its called diminished gluteal syndrome. Go see your doctor and he will write you a script for prosthetic butt cheeks which will take the pressure off of your spine.

I've actually had this problem for years. Saw a couple different orthos. Went in a few times for injections/nerve blocks which may have helped a little. Actually went to physical therapy for a while. They did trans-rectal coccyx manipulation, I shite you not, which hurt like an MFer, and other stuff that never really helped. Eventually I got to where I manage it. I've got memory foam coccyx cushions in the car and a special office chair (they do make them). As long as I'm careful, no pain. I think it's gotten better with time too, but you won't see me taking any long bike rides. Coccygectomy surgery is the last resort, but I'd recommend babying it for a few months and see if it settles down and becomes manageable. My ortho said most eventually fade away, but it may take a few years. The memory foam coccyx cushions on Amazon are great, thicker the better- use two if you're a big guy. Sorry no quick fix.

Google polynomial cyst.. One of my buddies had one and thought he broke his tailbone for like 3 weeks.

frickING THIS

I went to the doctor with EXTREME pain in my tailbone that had gone on for about 5-6 days and even the doctor at first straight diagnosed me with a broken tailbone and a but pillow to sit on while I was attending college which was not something that sounded very promising or something I wanted to do in front of all the sororisitutes

He literally let me walk up to the counter to check out before he realized (and my dumbass should've already) that he didn't actually lay eyes on the spot. The second he looked at it he immediately apologized and said that is a cyst

gave me some pills that took care of the pain and it 3 or 4 days it popped on its own

I can't imagine going through that pain for 9 months though, I'm fairly tough and it was excruciating

Try the chiropractor. I had pain in my tailbone when playing high school football. Lasted for a few weeks. Ended up being an alignment issue which was cleared up after a good back adjustment.
