This.

If you open carry you'll be the first one shot by the criminal.

Element of surprise = gone

Open carrying is not dumb if you use common sense. Walking into a police station open carrying is not using your head. I don't open carry but if I'm working at the ranch or at a deer lease and run into town to the store buy something real quick then It would be nice to use the right to open carry while making a quick trip to the store in a remote area/ small town. When out working or hunting I usually carry a larger pistol in a large hostler and it's nice having the option to get in my truck, go to town and come back to private property without having to take my gun off my hip.

I've had to open carry my pistol a few times and I've gotta say it's a bit uncomfortable. Felt like everyone was looking at me. I much prefer conceal carrying.

I know the feeling. I've "open carried" many times while cruising the border but I was in the truck pretty much the whole time. I did OC at the gas station once after cruising the border. I felt kinda weird, but everyone around there always assumed that I was a Border Patrol agent since I was a young white guy so it kinda helped me feel more comfortable.

Open carry is not "the fricking dumb" if it's your only option.. it's not like I'm carrying a huge pistol painted bright orange walking around making it completely obvious that I'm carrying

I lived in AZ for 4 years and saw more open carry there than anywhere else I have ever lived. I've seen a couple of guys open carrying at Academy around the BR area and it never seems like a big deal. It I wouldn't do it.

I highly doubt a city in Michigan - during the winter - has such a law.

THE MICHIGAN PENAL CODE (EXCERPT) Act 328 of 1931

750.396 Wearing mask or face covering device.

Sec. 396. A person who intentionally conceals his or her identity by wearing a mask or other device covering his or her face for the purpose of facilitating the commission of a crime is guilty of a misdemeanor punishable by imprisonment for not more than 93 days or a fine of not more than $500.00, or both.

It should definitely be a right to open carry but it's stupid.

Say a criminal or mass shooter walks into a building intent on doing harm. If he sees your handgun, you will be the first person shot.

Sometimes I could go to the grocery store and see at least 6 or 7 people carrying.

Yeah, but it's winter and wearing a ski mask sort of has a legitimate use. I kind of think that isn't the intention of the law. It isn't really a "face covering device" as it is a face warming device.

What a dumbass, he was literally asking for them to freak out. I don't understand why this guy would even do something like that.

No, you don't give them enough. I've had many an arrest where dude tried to reach where he thought my gun should be.
