College Football National Championships - no riots, no overturned vehicles, no fires (including couches), and no real any other disturbances of any kind

Super bowl win - Ditto

"Racial" tinged pilice shooting in BR - bunch of dumbasses show up and do little more than look silly (yes, and one extreme dumbass shows up a few days later and shoots three cops - still no riots)

Dipshit local politician removes age old confederate statues - a bunch of dumbasses show up and look stupid, nothing more.

Yes, it's still a shitty place on a lot of fronts. Let's give kudos to the people here and our law enforcement, for not crossing the line on this front, where seemingly so many other places fail. Hey, here's to us - WE don't riot!!!

There is enough violence and murder to not have to have explosions of it.

Not a louisianian.

And his point is about rioting.

I'm willing to acknowledge, that probably plays a part here.

The people of Charlottesville, Virginia aren't rioting. Outsiders are rioting in Charlottesville, Virginia. Huge difference.
This is a staged political event.

Those football games were all in January, though.

Rioting over big sports wins is the oddest phenomenon ever. I remember all the predictions leading up to the Saints super bowl, where folks thought New Orleans would go up in flames like or even much much worse than other cities had and telling people that I just couldn't see that happening here.

Yeah, I get that. All the people in BR were bussed in pros as well. So were many of the statue people in NO.

Cops knew how not to let any get out of hand.

There are a lot of transplants in Cville. A lot of people move here from places north.

I'm sure those people took part in today's events.

They're not Virginians though.

It's hard to riot when there's a bar on every corner.

My first thought is that it is too damned hot to riot here.

But if Les Miles became head coach of Ole Miss and beat LSU/CEO, then there just might be a riot.

Don't forget about the NBA all star game we hosted three or four years ago. The year before the thug homies went nuts in Vegas and everyone was saying that Nola would make that looks like childs play the next year.
