Mid seventies. Maybe late seventies. Concordia parish we were duck hunting I remember hearing someone say fifteen degrees

'83, N.W.La. Below freezing for 130 hours, temps didn't reach 20 degrees for a couple of days. My pond and the Red River froze over

83 and 89 were coldest icr in BR. 83 freeze I remember hunting in 50s that morning and it was in low 20s that afternoon. We broke ice the next day and the following day we went to put boat in and trailer rolled out across ice, bayou was frozen solid.

In BR, I remember that in the 80's, we had a winter where we had a 3-4 day stretch when it did not get out of the 20s. Pipes were bursting all over the city.

Oh, and the mosquitos the following summer were almost non-existent.

My family has pictures of this somewhere. I need to look for them cause it looked really cool. I think I have a picture walking on it which looking back was really stupid cause if I had fell through I would have been pulled with the current and not been able to get back up.
