With its largest consumption: transportation, moving towards electric, is the O&G dollars gone? I see chevron laying people off left and right and wondering if this is the end to the hard working baws in the gulf coast and the start of a migration towards the west and east coasts.

About half of oil used in transportation is from 18 wheelers which aren't going anywhere anytime soon. My truck nuts would look funny on a tesla anyway. No thanks

Yep, nobody is ever going to need oil and gas related products ever again. Industry is dead.

Just keep their PM's out of my God Damn industry. No need to saturate the construction market with laid off PMs.

I wish railway infrastructure could handle more of that.

Yes and no. The huge profits with oil markets shifts are gone. Electric will eventually take over, but there will always be a need.

It will be in the next 20-30 years for sure. Of course it will be used in a lot of products, and NG will still be a primary energy source, so it won't go away, but demand for Oil for gasoline engines will steadily decrease to the point where Lousiana's economy in its current form will be obsolete.

Electric is in a holding pattern. The battery tech has not caught up to the car design.

Natural gas and hydro? That’s where most electricity comes from for us.

lol no, the earth will remain powered by hydrocarbons for the rest of my lifetime but the era of high prices may be in a coma for the next decade.

Upgading our grid capacity alone to charge all the cars would take over a decade if we started today not even to mention the the largest single fuel that is converted to elecricity is.............Natural Gas, and its share is expanding rapidly.

90% of O&G consumption is used for transportation. It won't be dead, but cut back drastically.
