Yeah, that's not correct

Hell no you don't have to tip when picking up a carryout order. That's absurd. Tipping is for good service when eating at the place.

Usually, the host or hostess is going to be responsible for packaging everything up for you, making sure you have plastic forks/napkins, etc. after it comes out of the kitchen.

I always tip well to any worker that deserves a tip, but this is not a reason to tip. That task takes less than 1 minute and requires no effort. If I gave even a $1 tip I'd be valuing their time between $60 and $100 an hour.

A couple of bucks is adequate, you cheap frick.

You mean do their jobs? Tipping servers and bartenders who have to put up with crappy customers is one thing. Tipping the person who doesn't have to do anything other than hand you the food is another. And checking to make sure my bag has napkins and silverware is not exceeding expectations.

Not at a pizza place but from a real restaurant I tip.

I don’t tip on debit card. Usually give them a 5 in cash.

I'll tip if the person in question contributed value to me. If I pick something off a shelf and bring it to the cashier myself, no I'm not tipping. That's just a straight retail sale nothing different from buying at Target.

If a waiter recommended a nice drink to go with my food, was attentive enough to clear away dishes as my party was done with them to get ready for the next round, then of course I'll tip.

These threads always identify the no class having mofo’s.

Class is not real. It is only in the minds of the people that accept it.

I'm on the fence about carryout tipping. Definitely don't agree with tipping for carryout every single time. And I consider myself to be a pretty generous tipper when I sit down at a place and eat.

If you live in one of the six states (AL, LA, GA, MS, SC, TN) that allow servers to only be paid $2.13 an hour I can see it being classless. The rest either require the employer to make up the difference to regular minimum wage and several require they be paid full minimum wage plus tips. Here, servers make $15 plus tips. In those places I don't feel obligated to pay additional money for bagging my food.

I always ask if they are having a slow night while I'm making small talk, and waiting on them to bag the food before I pay. If they say yes, I tip them a few bucks just to be nice.

But I also have worked in food service more than I care to admit, and I know the struggle all too well.

Louisiana requires that servers be brought to minimum wage if it is not met with tips.

I'm 99% sure its the minimum threshold in every other state.

Just like the person at the drive-thru window at {Insert any fast food restaurant name here}.

OK, we don't tip someone who rounds up your order, puts it in a proper container, puts it in a bag, brings it to you at the cashier (or outside in a designated parking space), and takes care of your credit card transaction, etc.

But we do tip some retard who puts our luggage on a cart and pushes it to the check in counter for us????

I'm not tipping when I had to leave my house to get the food. I didn't get any wait service so what entities them to a tip? I always tip the servers, bartenders and delivery drivers. But the person who just hands me my food and checks me out doesn't need a tip.

I always figure the person putting the order together is a good one to have on my side. A well packed order with proper silverware, napkins, sauces, etc... and organized so there arent spills is good for a buck or two in my book. Should be a given but I can spare a dollar here and there
