Do you have to have insurance to do the 2 glasses for $59 with a free eye exam?

No. And the selection is actually pretty decent. And that $99 covers the first two
Exams so you're paying $100 for essentially 2 years of exams

I didnt think so but couldnt find anything on their website. I have been wearing the same glasses for about 8 years(only for night time driving or movie wattching) and we got them from there. Been looking at the selection and it has plenty to choose from.

I ordered my contacts from Lenstore.co.uk. The website is very easy to use. Just pick the brand you want and type in the info from your contacts, pay and it takes about 8 days to arrive. This was the first time I did this. I will do this from now on. No more going to the eye doctor for him to tell me the same thing over and over.

As an aside, if anyone here needs glasses and hasn't tried zenni.com, youre missing out.. same frames (or similar) you'd pay $400 or more at Pearle Vision, LensCrafters, Target etc for literally like $25 or $30 per pair.. i thought it was too good to be true til i tried them about 5 yrs ago-- but now I've got upwards of 20 pairs of eyeglasses, prescription sunglasses , sports goggles etc for probably around $500 all combined.. for those of you who, like me, dont want to do Lasik yet, zenni is an amazing value.

No, I was in there yesterday. That price is without insurance.

Not much worse than running out of contacts, calling 1-800-contacts and them refusing to help you out, therefore creating a pain in the arse trip to the eye doctor.

That's where I am today. Swamped at work and gone all weekend. Not being able to see will put a damper on that however.

I don't have vision insurance because my overall insurance dropped it, yet costs more, and I didn't get a pay increase.

Who the frick has glasses/contacts but doesn't have vision insurance?

If you're 20/20 and have never needed glasses, sure, don't get the insurance
But when you have to regularly buy contacts and go to exams, you're an idiot to not have vision insurance. Either that or you have a shitty job that doesn't offer it. Mine is less than 2 bucks a month.

I don't get it either. Mine is like $5 a month through work.

If you are wearing contacts daily, you really should get your eyes checked out every year. It isn't so much about your vision changing....but about the health of your eyes. There are things that can happen to your eyes from wearing contacts.

Also....you never know when a routine eye exam can save your life by alerting you to a more serious issue.

Had that happen to a child i took care of at work years ago. Broke her glasses, her mom had to get her another eye exam to get another pair. Eye doctor saw something odd on the exam so recommended her seek more medical attention. Child had the beginning of a brain tumor. Had no symptoms so by the time she did have symptoms....tumor could have been much worse and they may not have been able to operate to remove it.

A simple eye exam saved her life.

It's not about the vision insurance (which I have), it's about the inconvenience of having to make the appointment, go to the appointment, try the contacts they give you for a week or two, then go back for a "follow up appointment" where they say "are those working for you?"

All of that to finally get a prescription that is only good for one year, when they *can* write it for two years but choose not to.

I just did my "follow up appointment" yesterday because I let my one year prescription lapse by one month. My prescription changed a minuscule amount.

Also, my vision insurance covers an eye exam and prescription but does not cover "contact lens fitting." That was an $85 fee for them to hand me a pair of contacts (same brand I was using before) and tell me to put them in and try them for 2 weeks.

It's a racket.

It literally cost me more money using my eyecare insurance so I dropped it. It wasn't the best insurance but frick the hassle of paying more while having it. My regular healthcare is great but dental and vision is shitty. I'm still getting raped with my dental plan though.

I've never had to have a follow up appt for contacts. I get the eye exam, they give me a prescription before I leave and usually a week's worth of free contacts to try out. If I like them, good. If not....I can come back in if I want.

My prescription is free yet I somehow still pay $150 without the lenses. $100 for a contact lens fitting. Wtf is that? This is all with insurance.
My prescription has not changed in 10 years yet I still have to go every year. It is a racket.
