America really is that little kid who never grows past the "it's wrong and I'm not supposed to do it" stage in life, snickering in the corner because it's wrong. It's fricking childish.

I had not heard that. The DEA could reschedule pot anytime but it has repeatedly refused, I know that.

Of course, this assumes you had a moment to actually speak to them and say something intelligent. I don't care for fake grip and grin shots.

Haha right. Like any old joe schmo is going to engage in a meaningful conversation with the president. Even then the president most likely gives zero fricks on what you have to say.

Fair enough. But I actually think it's hypocritical to disagree with the president and all of a sudden care about shaking his hand. I have a hard time imagining hard Left liberals being excited about meeting GWB. And I would respect them for sticking to their guns.

What about getting yourself on video calling him a useless asshat to his face? Would that be within the bounds of political consistency?

If I see a president walking around, I'm taking my picture with him. I'll let the hypocrite flag fly for that one.

Correct if I'm wrong, but I think I recently (last week or two) heard that the DEA has asked the USDA to drop it, so both agencies can begin to eliminate roadblocks to decriminalizing and/or legalizing it.

If it's federally decriminalized are they going to start treating it like Rx being pushed on the street or what?

That's fine. I commend you for admitting the hypocrisy of it. Maybe I'm just full of shite and would actually piss my pants and squeal if I ever saw the president. I like to think I'd feel like a meek shite afterwards.

I live about 6 blocks from where he was glad handing people. I cared more about doing my laundry than going to see him.

Who knows, they could start off with legalizing medical first. Test that for a few years, then move to full recreational. That's how CO did it and it seems to be working better for the state than forecasted so far.

That's because from all accounts y'all are treating it like alcohol and that's exactly what it should be treated as. At least someone did it right on the state level and showed the country that it is not only feasible but possibly beneficial to the community if TS done right. Unfortunately since everyone and their 4th cousin has to get a cut in Louisiana politics and our Bible Belt status I fear that Louisiana won't ever see the light.

How much prison time do you think a person would face if they punched the Pres in the face at an event like this?

I'm not sure if that's accurate, actually. I think the Department of Health & Human Services is the agency that actually recommends drugs be placed in specific categories by the DEA following "analysis" by the FDA.

You would never connect. Notice that when they are "working the line" the Pres stays back just enough that he can touch their hands and be in the photo when people are right against the barricade. If you lean over or climb up on the barricade the Agents are on you immediately.

That is all by design. Any event where you see people standing next to him is a closed event where everyone in attendance has been vetted before entry. Even the "candid" shots you see in restaurants or public facilities are somewhat staged.

Reminds me of the time I was out eating with my girlfriend (now wife) and Clinton was a few tables over. I wanted to be a big hero with her, and she said,"It would be cool to meet him." I said,"Relax, relax." And I got up, and I walked over and I said, "President Clinton, if you can come over to the table to just say hello, it'll help me with this girl. But don't come right away--give me a few minutes with her first."

He said,"OK, sure." You know how Clinton is with the ladies. He's really the ultimate wing man. So I went back and sat down with her and we had a drink. Sure enough, the President walked over after a few minutes and said,"Color, how are you?" And I got up and said,"Mr. President, not now. Can't you see I'm with somebody?"
