A top-ranking Tulane University police department administrator shocked colleagues Sunday when he referred to an African American lieutenant on the force as a “gorilla” in front of visiting accreditation officials, according to a witness.

The Advocate has gone off the deep end.

Yeah - I've heard white cops referred to as "gorilla" - we might need a little context.
What am I saying? He gone.

It sounds like he didn't mean it in a racial way.

I bet he calls him a gorilla to his face all the time, probably because he is big and strong. The "gorilla" didn't want to say it was fine after everyone was "shocked and outraged" because he didn't want to be accused of being an Uncle Tom.
Pretty much any other scenario except that then, yeah, he gone.

Referring to someone as a gorilla can only ever be racist.
Everyone knows that Skip Bertman's baseball teams gained the nickname "Gorilla Ball" because of all the African Americans on the squad.

There are still options for large guys. Can't really excuse this.

Probably sensitivity training.

He's prob a big ripped dude and the lieutenant thought nothing about race when he said it. Sad. See we aren't supposed to see race when we look at a person except when it pertains to offending them.

He meant gorilla with an "a" not goriller with an "er".

Put him in the same class as Google Image
Remember that story from the other day - that's the most inappropriate laughter I've had since Vincent shot Marvin in the face.
