NOPD is going to 2 man units in response to the BR shootings. It may take them longer to respond to calls.

that's cool, people don't need/want cops anymore anyway. I'm sure they can handle inner city violence on their own.

Who can blame them? Response times across the country will slow down. If I was a cop, I'd definitely want a partner.

I didn't know NOPD had two officers.

Response times were already what, an hour or so?

As a retired LEO, I can tell you that I always hated riding with another officer. All it did was slow me down. I avoided it whenever possible.

I think a better solution may be for officers to carry their AR's on them when responding to any type of call involving violence of the potential for violence.

Wouldn't this be all calls?

No. Lots of burglary reports, thefts, barking dogs, etc.

This was a report of shots fired or a man with a gun type of call, today. An AR15 would have greatly equalized the situation.

The Feds have been doing this (two person teams) since Dallas.

I don't them at all. Problem is half the amount of units on the street. Crime will rise. Better to have double as many visible units riding around without question.

Did they ask for more money in the press release?

Glad cops are being safe and taking precautions but NOPD doesn't have man power to do this and cover the same ground.

Officers have been ambushed going to these kinds of calls as well. It's rare they get to let their guard completely down, ever.

Landrieu just clarified on 870 AM that they aren't going to 2-man units, but two officers will respond to all calls.

I hear BR has been rolling to calls 4-8 deep the past week or so in certain areas. I imagine that will continue or even be plussed up.
