My 2012 direct injected turbocharged engine gets better mpg on 100% gasoline than it does running E10.

Ethanol is also one of the reasons the air in urban Brazil is so polluted.
Brazil is all sugarcane ethanol. No corn.

Good post.
100% gas is esp good for Boats and 2 cycle engines too if I'm not mistaken.
We had an older '04 Lincoln LS that he Missus bought new right before we got together. It required 90+ octane and I always used 100% gas in it (2 stations out this way that sell it) when I was able to. Obviously there were times that we would have to refuel and couldn't find 100%.
If not then it ran like shite and got fewer mpgs.

Engine makers have been designing them around ethanol for years. They are optimized running on ethanol.
I have a buddy with a SRT8 that makes more power on an ethanol tune than regular tune. Not sure what they do differently, but that's what he told me after doing a bunch of dyno sessions

Corn is for drinking not driving.

My vehicle is a 2010 4 cylinder.
I always thought the big benefit in non ethanol gas was for small lawnmower type engines.

2011 Tundra with 5.7. Not sure of the exact numbers but I'll get about 50 more miles a tank with non ethanol.

Where do you get gas with no ethanol?
Not in Texas. Don't know why.

Ethanol is a massive fraud perpetrated by the Fed gov paying off the Midwest corn lobby. It is all BS as it takes more energy to produce ethanol than is derived from it.

I've noticed that some of those newer Shell Gas/Circle K stores they've been remodeling will have a pump with non-ethanol gas.

There are a few new stations around town with yellow pumps that are E85. It's cheap but your mileage suffers. Not sure newer vehicles will benefit much from the extra cost of gas over E10 or E85. The turbo guys should love the E85 since it's 100-110 octane.
My SUV does about the same mileage on gas as it does on E10. Requires 91 octane on account of the supercharger. It only does about 13 mpg around town anyway so I doubt there is much out there that will help.

Glad someone made this post b/c Ive been having issues with my '99 4runner.
When I accelerate I feel the car shake a bit. It feels like a u-joint, but I replaced those not 6 months ago.
I drive in Lakeview often and the roads are complete shite so they could have gone bad again.
But do y'all think the fact I JUST filled up with "10% ethanol" gasoline could have anything to do with this? I typically fill up with low grade gas anyways, but this is the first time I can recall filling up at a pump that said "10% Gasoline" (at Robert E Lee/Leon C Simon intersection gas station BTW).
TIA
ETA: Can I improve the octane of the fuel? I typically last a week and a half on a tank and Im almost full still.

This I know to be true.

so it's doubtful there would be a cost saving benefit for newer vehicles that are tuned to run off of ethanol containing gas.

Yes, but octane is not what generates power. Octane is the fuels ability to withstand pressure without detonating. It will not do anything for your power output on a naturally aspirated motor.

I have an '05 GMC Z71 that has close to 200k miles on it. It hasn't been a daily driver for about 4 years because of the mileage it had on it and the mpg it was getting. I stopped putting ethanol gas in it when I stopped driving it daily and have noticed a big difference in mileage and how smoothly it runs. I definitely agree with your assessment.

Here in Central Florida all of the new WAWA stations have non-ethanol and they are retooling their older ones to carry non-ethanol. I have noticed a big difference in my 2009 Mercury Mariner when using it
