NOLA Traffic Cameras?

Hello folks,
I have just moved back to Louisiana (New Orleans) after 15 years away. I don’t have a car (didn’t need one in nyc) and have been driving my sisters for the past six weeks.
About three weeks ago, she received a speeding ticket in the mail (30 in a 20). Again, I was actually the one driving the car. I paid it. Moving ahead I have been more aware of speed limits and camera enforcement. Alas, not nearly aware enough: in the past two weeks she received three more tickets all in 20 mph zones (26, 26, and 27). Each ticket is $75. Seems I will have to just drive 20 mph everywhere in the city as I get to know driving in the city.
Just curious, what happens if the tickets are not paid? She wasn’t driving the car after all and she doesn’t live in Nola. Normally I have no problems taking care of my responsibilities, but there is something about this program that doesn’t sit well with me (beyond paying another $225 in traffic fines). Thanks for your thoughts.

They sound like school zone tickets, slow down in them. I know some ares drop the speed limit down to 25 which catches quite a few people that don't notice the speed signs.
Anyone know of non school zone areas with a 20 MPH that actually has cams? Even the cars I've seen are one 25 and over streets.

Why are you speeding through school zones?
Not to my knowledge. The speed limit on regular surface streets is 25 miles per hour I believe

The big flashing yellow lights outside of schools are helpful, no?

Schools on larger streets have lights, I don't think all smaller schools do, lots have signs only. But I have noticed they added the speed camera signs for those schools.

I got a camera ticket in a school zone in November for going 22 in a 20 in that shithole.

Pay them. Eventually they will boot and then tow. Adds up. Trust me.

School zones around the city operate at the same times 7-9am and 2:45-4:45pm the lights don't matter.

Every school has school zones. If they are in neighborhoods, the city will still have zones on the closest major streets, too.
There are zones where you can't even see the school.

Stop speeding in school zones.

Oh, I know. And to the poster who got a ticket for 2 MPH over in a school zone, I heard they give no cushion.

I think you can contest it. Supposed to give you a 6 MPH cushion.
"To trigger a camera, a driver must be going at least 10 mph above the speed limit in a non-school zone and 6 mph faster in a school zone. Landrieu had that threshold increased in 2012."

You will 100% get booted. Even if you’re parked legally on the street, meter maids run your plates and will boot you.

Dang, what part of NOLA are you driving in? I drive downtown fairly often and have yet to receive a speeding ticket.

That's ridiculous that they would ticket you for that. It's nothing but a money-making scheme.
