You can shower with it, just boil it if you cook with it.

My husband said screw it and took a shower. We weren't advised for 7 hours after the incident and that was after we brushed teeth and drank water.

According the advisory, yes, that's unsafe.

frick that shite though, I went on about my day. Drank out of the little machine at work. I'm fine. Just showered and brushed my teeth too.

Nearly everyone used and consumed water between the issue and the advisory going public. If it were a major concern it wouldn't be an 8 hour gap to announce the warning... Or the last one or the 3 before.
