No wonder people shop online. Screw buying local.

Got a couple of books at the local bookstore. Yeah, yeah, buy local, support local merchants. Book #1 was a paperback at $31. It was $13 at Amazon, $15 at B&N, and $22 at Books A Million. $35 for the hardback edition at Amazon as well.

Book #2, Dispatches from Pluto, was $16. $7 on Amazon. Wound up paying $27 more for two books "buying local" than I would have online.

Be careful, sometimes the shipping catches you.

That's ridiculous. Why would anyone pay that much?

Its kind of the point...you pay a little extra to get the book then instead of waiting a week to get it.

It was ordered. I called Monday to order it, thought I'd give them a chance. Was in on Thursday. Not bad at all on shipping time.

What was the first book? $31 dollars for a paperback is crazy unless it's a college prep book

Did you check the online prices after or before you bought them?

Yeah, but then I can't prominently display my literary conquests to impress people.

Ha! First time online in a while? I'm getting an Amazon prime shipment tomorrow (Sunday) from the US Postal Service that I ordered yesterday. It's diapers and fishing shirts - only the critical needs.

No title listed for the first book. Makes the OT wonder if it was the paperback version of "What to expect when you're expecting it up the arse"

Did you even ask the local store if they'd be willing to price match? Decent shot at most places to get them to price match, although $31 to $13 might be a bit steep for them to match...but wouldn't hurt to ask

I wish! If I had to wait a week then I could complain, get it refunded, and get to keep it. Needless to say nothing from Amazon takes that long. Ever.

It is smart to have a backup plan in case you run out of diapers.
