Sounds like a stand up dindu citizen to me. I've reviewed the video and the officer was 100% in his use of force. Glad to see the officer walk away from this one in one piece and the perp suffer the consequences.

Maybe we just need to stop acting like selling drugs is on par with murder?

Well someone can be charged with murder if they sell drugs to a person and it directly leads to that person's death. So......

I'm glad officers can get away with murder in broad daylight. And on camera.

His parents had An interview on tv this am. Said "it was only a little weed" but then reporter said cocaine and something else was in his system. It wasn't only weed.

Feel bad for all parties.

I guess strictly speaking the guy drove towards the cop. That's enough to justify it.

Shots were fired when the cop was parallel to the car. He was in real danger for his life.

Um, no. Shot fired into his face for likely nothing. No thanks, Putin.

Nothing is 100%, particularly this video - but I am satisfied the use of force was justified.

And now we now the reason why the young man tried to run - play stupid arse games, win stupid arse prizes.

Cops don't have a sense of humor about these things - don't give them a reason.

(FTR: I'm for grown folks having the option to legally purchase safe, pharmaceutical-grade recreational drugs at the Walgreens or CVS of their choice. But, this kid didn't wake up one morning thinking what he was doing was safe, legal or wise. He was trying to make a quick buck in an illegal business. If he had complied with the officer making the arrest, he would have already made bail and been working on his plea agreement.)

Hammond began to drive off.

"Hammond then turns the car hard left toward Lt. Tiller, resulting in Lt. Tiller being face to face with Hammond at the driver's window," Adams said in the letter.

Tiller backpedaled to avoid being knocked down and pushed himself away from Hammond's car. His feet are about to go underneath Hammond's car, Adams said.

Hammond had an outstanding warrant for his arrest for failure to appear in court, and his text messages showed he had no intention of stopping for police and going to jail, the prosecutor said.

Police gathered 854 pages of Hammond's text messages between May 29 and July 26. "Hammond talks about being in 'in full outlaw mode' and that he would 'go out shootin'. In fact, Hammond had the word 'Outlaw' tattooed on his left forearm the month prior to his death," the prosecutor wrote.

"Almost every text message deals with Hammond selling drugs to multiple individuals including marijuana, acid, cocaine and prescription pills," Adams wrote. "The text messages indicate that Hammond had been on a dangerous and destructive course for a significant period of his life."

Such a good kid. The parents argued the cop should have let him drive off and call in roadblock. They must be on all the kids leftover drugs.

Yeah, let's let a coked out high kid endanger the life of everyone on the road.

This doesn't matter at all. The cop had zero knowledge of this. The only question is whether or not deadly force was justified. And there is no chance it was justified. The cop was parallel to the vehicle when the shots were fired and there is no indication this guy was going to injure civilians.
