Has this become the social media bitch fest for your neighborhood?

I see a post this morning about someone moaning about dogs not being tied up and being allowed to roam around on the roads.

Then this afternoon I see a post about speeding in the neighborhood. She Mentions that someone was speeding and hit her dog.

So OT question:

How much of a shite storm would it cause if I mentioned that I have identified one of the culprits that is known to allow their dog to roam the streets however the problem has been resolved.

I can see this site causing lots of issues and not doing anything good.

Yes, and while helpful for some situations it always seems to turn into a bitchfest.

My wife uses it and forwards me all kinds of neighborhood crap from there. I never look at it.

This is a legitimate complaint if you ask me. Why should me and all the other neighbors have to clean up after someone else's dogs? It's usually one or two trashy inconsiderate neighbors that think everyone else should take care of their dog's shite.

Speeding is also a pretty big issue if you have young children that ride bikes or if you like to run through your neighborhood for exercise.

What's so bad about calling out trash bag neighbors who are bringing the real estate down?

We have it. My wife is actually one of the moderators of our subdivision page. I trolled it for half a day and got booted by a different one and she won't let me back in.

Every message is urgent, it's ridiculous.

Yea, I'm on it. It's about 80% useful for the 15 or so neighborhoods that show up in my feed...and 20% of people complaining about things that are largely unimportant.

For those that can read in the Mid-City area...the thread about the cross-dresser/transgender that was harassing people was pretty good. There was also someone that was calling BRPD every time the construction crew across the street from her house parked a vehicle in one lane of the two-lane residential road.

I guess I wasn't expecting to get emails that appear of some great importance and its a housewife bitching about her morning walk.

I'm certainly not going to invite friends over and inform them of the speed limits in my neighborhood. I just figure they are adults and all and can read for themselves.

I just found it funny that one of the people bitching about speeding had their UNLEASHED dog hit by a car on the road. Sooo tempting to troll that situation.

This. I actually started addressing some of those people the way I do on here and, um...well...it didn't go over so well. Most of them are kind of used to saying anything and not getting responses...

Decided to leave that shite alone...

I know what you mean.

Naturally every person posting an issue thinks their issue is urgent and needs immediate attention.

I guess our neighborhood knows how to use the urgent alerts...I think I've only gotten one and it was for a suspicious person.

I don't think I've seen an actual urgent notice come through yet. Which is good I suppose, but apparently it bores the tards in the hood.

The closest was a guy in an orange shirt and khakis jumping a fence. It was an AT&T guy checking a line or something. I still laughed at the khakis.

People use a fricking iPhone app to anonymously talk about dogs in their neighborhood?

It's not anonymous. You have to confirm residence.

I have the connections to make it anonymous for me, but my wife is a fricking square.

Not anonymous. And as with everything...it has its usefulness, but also allows idiots to post. Basically like the OT.

I just get the daily update in my email and it's usually lost/found pets, and people selling some furniture. Our Neighborhood Association president also links the newsletter there and asks for assistance on clean up days for the public entry signs.

But usually about once a month, there's a thread with something moronic or something that someone has to politicize.

I use it and love it. I don't see hardly any bitching in my area. Mostly just stuff for sale, lost pets, etc. One guy is even using it to for a pick-up soccer game on Sundays.

Nextdoor is fun as hell to troll. I do it all the time.

This isn't 100% true. You can put any address and use any name you like for your posts. You can confirm with your phone # instead of by mail, at least in my neighborhood.
