Kill someone and get away with it, as long as you are a Democrat of course.

Bar Harbor. Definitely hit up acadia national park (thunder hole is cool but you have to time it right). Take a drive up cadillac mtn. on a clear day. Whale watching is fun but not sure if they're active this time of year. Have lunch at On Jordan Pond. If you like light hiking you can walk the pond but it's probably 3-4 miles.

Also, all the little shops around bar harbor are great. Go get a lobstah roll.

Stayed at the Bar Harbor Inn years ago and loved it. Used as a base to visit the area, then headed down the coast to Kennebunkport , then over into NH White Mountains. All beautiful.

Havana restaurant in Bar Harbor was a really good meal.

Their schools let out in mid June. Stuff is dead until then, then everything is booked to the gills just like that. Have reservations after that point.

It's a big state. We did a lot of driving around out in the country. Louisiana has rural areas, but damn. Those Mainers got some really country areas and folks.

We certainly look forward to it. We hear the cliff walk is pretty. Will visit the breakers and marble house. Thinking about a day trip to block island.

Acadia looks beautiful. Wife and I plan on bed and breakfasts and enjoying the scenery. Enjoy short hikes, so this should be fun.

Thanks for the Havana resteraunt suggestion. Will try it one evening. We have our reservations made for lodging, as heard it WAs wise to make them early.

Call Stephen King for a dinner date. I've heard that he loves to lead tours. He likes looking for shortcuts

Just wait for a descent place to park at Walker's point in Kennebunkport if you want a pic of the bush compound. Stay the night in old port in Portland. Tons of places to eat and easy to tour around, make your reservations now though.

I wouldn't drive straight from
Portland/S. Maine to BH, it takes a good bit of time and half the trip is on a two lane road no matter what route you take. I recommend staying the night in Belfast if you are traveling straight through. Make sure you go to Rollie's, best food for the money in Maine. If you want to travel to the epicenter of lobstering hit up Deere Isle/Stonington, it is out of the way, but whatever, it's got some terrific views and not a lot of tourist travel that way up route 1.

Just go ahead and reserve one day for Acadia National Park, do as much as possible. The big three are Cadillac Mtn, Jordans pond and the beach. It's a pretty special place to say the least. Mt Desert Isle is an all around scenic masterpiece.

If you are not absolutely hellbent on staying in Bar Harbor, then don't. Especially near downtown/waterfront. West Street Hotel and Harborside Hotel are the best on the water. Downtown BH is very gimmicky and touristy, there are gonna be a ton families and parking will be slim to none.

Thanks for all of the help. We will be staying at the ivy lodge bed and breakfast in newport, the nonanton resort in kennebunkport, and the stones throw cottage bed and breakfast in bar harbor.

Anyone familiar with any of these places?
