Top load washer. More knobs than digital (they don't scare me...just don't know how long they'll last). Looking for the most dependable. Recommendations on what brand. Hoping Napoleon will join in!!

I've had my Speed Queen mechanical top loader for about 6 months now. Best thing I've bought in a long time. Worth every penny, even if it looks like something you'd pay 50 bucks for at a yard sale. I owe it all to the OT washing machine geeks. Lol DO NO BUY A SAMSUNG!

Top load with agitator.

Guy at lowes said maytag and whirlpool are built the same and both are the closest you'll get to an old school washing machine

The basic GE top loaders have been bullet proof in my experience. 5 years ago I left a 10 year old GE set in my rental property and they are still going. Replaced the Samsung front loader washer that broke within 3 years with a cheap GE model (mechanical knobs, minimal settings) and couldn’t be happier. It washes clothes. How many settings do we really need to wash clothes?

I have a Samsung and would not buy it again. Speed queen seems to be the best out right now.

Purchased a set last month. Brandons in Amite had the cheapest price, but I got Bellelo's in Port Allen to price match them.

Talk to any repairman. Front load is trash. Especially the "water saver" type. All-in-one, the ones that wash then dry in one cycle are the world's worst......unless you want slightly damp, smelly clothes after 3 hours.

I just replaced Samsung front loader (would not buy again) with maytag top loader this past week.

Samsung washer door leaked almost from new and water pump went out.

Dryer would frequently not dry clothes. Seemed like heating element had short at times or control board wasn't sending signal to element.

Units were about eight years old fwiw

I've owned a Samsung washer and dryer frontload for 8 years, not the first problem except for replacing a belt on the dryer last week after 8 years.

I think knocking Samsung and frontloaders in general is just the new trendy thing.

This. We have one of the "high efficiency" top loaders without an agitator. It doesn't wash clothes as well as our old agitating one, and the mechanism that keeps the tub centered has busted so it spins out of its position sometimes, shifting the entire unit a little. I can't wait for this one to bite the dust so I can get a cheap agitating washer with knobs again.
