Warning, Dear Facebook.

Was in New Orleans for a wedding this weekend, got down on Friday and left early yesterday morning. Let me say it really is sad how much of a shithole New Orleans has turned in to. I'm not sure if it's locals or people visiting, but the groups of people that were on Bourbon would make George Brooks nervous. Wedding was great, did the whole second line thing, but dear God if I have to smell weed one more damn time. Also made the mistake of walking back to our hotel down Bourbon past midnight, I have no comment. I've been to one of the worst neighborhoods in central America and I've felt safer. To top it all off, the damn valet stole all of my quarters out of my car. Only saving grace was the Brocato Cannolis for the ride home.

The weed smell is stronger in NOLA than ANY legal city I know of.
I'm used to it but it's pervasive.

It is sketchier than it's ever been. At this point I'm thinking we need to be more like Beale street and have to go through security to enter the street.

Latoya has the French quarter at rock bottom. Everytime I go to the quarter it makes me angry. It has so much beautiful architecture and history and the lady literally lives there for free and allows it to be filled with low life’s.

went pop in the city last night to see the lights with the kids and we usually do some other things downtown this time of year... popped in the Roosevelt and got the hell out. Did not want to mess around and get caught up walking in some of those areas with kids.... I've been to chicago twice in the last couple of years and feel way safer there.

So sad, and there is some "good" things about the city...but just not worth risking it.

That is my point. After being in New Orleans, I am thankful as hell that I only live in the 13th most dangerous city in the US. New Orleans has become a cesspool for low lives, sometimes the truth sucks.

Brooklyn/NYC held it's own in comparison.

Vancouver was still the worst I have ever come across.

Bourbon has been bad for years. I was in New Orleans earlier this year for a long weekend, and I honestly didn’t notice any negative changes. It’s always had a dark underbelly to it. I didn’t step foot on Bourbon and one went to the Quarter to do the touristy Cafe Du Monde visit one morning.

You’re equating the French quarter with all of New Orleans.

Is the city dangerous? Yes

Is the French quarter gross? Yes

Uptown, Lakeview, mid- city all are much quieter, without the drama of the quarter.

You're probably right, but I have never seen more vacant strip malls or places of business all around the city. I'm upset about it too, I grew up going to Nola, I just remember how it used to be.

Low life tourists.

I was in the Quarter last night. The trashiest thing there were our visitors from Atlanta.

I really think gambling has dealt a huge blow to the culture of the tourism scene of New Orleans.

The city is attracting more and more of the obnoxious tourist.
People now go to New Orleans to gamble and get hammered drunk. With that comes an element that caters to these people and they need not exactly genteel.

There’s less interest in it’s history, architecture or southern culture.

I’ll go to parts of uptown to see family and friends but I hate going downtown and have avoided it.
