I'm all for offering help- although I think enough public help is offered already- but nothing will change if the people don't want to help themselves. Like junkies or drunks, the individuals have to want to change. And that's the biggest problem. Many of them don't want to change cause it's too damn hard.

I saw the first half of the video at 6 and stayed awake to see the rest of it at 10. I hope this piece goes viral and is on every national news outlet by this evening. The epidemic inside the urban black community is pathetic to see and it nothing but a strain on the rest of the country. It was also troubling to see the lady that lost her four sons to violence be the one to ultimately stop the fight when the gat was stripped.

I was left thinking that someone in that video would be killed very soon, which is extremely troubling. I truly hope the good guy rapper wearing the Capital Murda shirt (can't remember his name), rallies support from people near and far to make a difference. This behavior is not acceptable and has to stop. The rest of the world laughs at how completely inept a lot of Americans are. We live in the greatest country in the world and have millions and millions of people wanting to come here for a better life. To watch one sector of society kill each other with zero regard for anything or anyone else is absurd.

Honestly the most troubling thing is the poor kid just standing there watching that shite.

Agree, the whole thing was disturbing but I kept thinking about what that kid was learning. The cycle will continue unfortunately.

Tried to up vote but hit but fat thumb the small phone screen hit the wrong place.

They were just a group of friends (mistaken for a gang) that wanted to band together and do something positive for the community....by rapping about drugs, money, bitches, guns and killing, but they weren't really about any of those things.

No. We joke around on the OT but this isn't a joke. That video is sad. Not getting Poli Board but this culture is a result of years of government pandering (both parties) for votes via handouts and abuses by the minority communities own leaders as mentioned earlier in this thread. Frankly, looking at it historically and not being racist at all, these communities aren't that historically removed (240 years isn't that long) from the slaves. If you look back, things could probably be traced directly to that. An entire subset of society that was literally raised to be subservient was set free and expected to thrive. Forty acres and a mule doesn't prepare one to go from slavery to a contributing member of society. I don't know the solution at this point but it would be a fascinating topic for a PH.D. to work on.*

*As if any PC university would allow that as a thesis. No way.

Yea people want to talk about Black Lives Matter anytime something happens with a police officer (which is very rare in comparison). You know whose life should matter way more than some POS like Mike Browns, the little kid in this video. This poor kid almost stands no chance to break the cycle. Why his community can't focus on the real issues amazes me. Sad to see how he just stood there and watched without really reacting. Very obvious this wasn't the first fist fight he's seen

It was pretty much what I expected so didn't find it sad. I found it funny because the dude that came up running his mouth got some instant karma.

I have no sympathy for these fricking idiots. It ain't whitey's fault they refuse to grow the frick up. THEY hold themselves down. THEY continue to exploit this type of behavior as something that is cool and makes them a "real n***a" THEY have gone backwards in the fifty something years since desegregation. THEY are the ones with the deck stacked in THEIR favor for jobs, schools, internships, etc. yet THEY continue to not want to work or go to school so THEY will continue to be uneducated and poor. Most of THEIR dream jobs are becoming a rapper so they can rap about shite like drugs, bitches, robbing people, and fricking murder all in the name of being a "real n***a"

They'll never learn. I'm not advocating for segregation again or even slavery, but at least back then they respected one another and acted civilised.

When I was working for a large corporation in the telecommunications arena, a training film actually directed us to do certain things in an environment like the ninth ward. the narrator was a young black male and he said to walk aggressively and make eye contact. He even demonstrated the aggressive style of walking and said it would work even for us older white gray haired dudes. Us "dudes" had to laugh - really! Our company paid for that training class too!!!! In retrospect none of us got flushed though.....

Losing four sons to murder. Probably no dad around, if even alive. That's tough stuff to change. It did not get there over night and won't change without a major shift. Feel bad for those stuck in that culture who try and do right. The odds are stacked against them. It's nice to see those who overcome that environment. But it requires pretty good will and determination. I know a teen who is the only male in his family not arrested. Two brothers locked up now for major crimes. He'gets it.

This isn't just an 8/9th ward problem. The battles between the 70124 and the 70005 are legendary. You best not cross the 17th after dark or you gonna get served, son.

No lives matter. Everybody's the same. If that mindset gets stronger we'll probably be alright.
