My trips to New Orleans mostly consist of going to a nice restaurant and back to hotel. That said, my anniversary is coming up and I'd like to make it back to my hotel and eventually my city alive.

Aside from the must visits with my wife to She She's Gentlemen's Club and Rick's Cabaret, what are some "must dos?" She likes shopping, so I figure a stroll down Royal and Magazine (away from the FQ) are in store for me. What else in terms of nighttime entertainment (prefer a laid back scene) would you recommend for a couple?

Wife is in her late 30's and doesn't necessarily prefer the French Quarter, particularly Bourbon Street. We'll be staying off Canal Street at Roosevelt Way (Roosevelt Hotel).

I think you should focus on not getting shot. Everything else is lagniappe.

Had no idea what type of place this was ... and now I know.

Google says that it is closed.

You can visit the street I lived on as a kid: Moore Drive, near the corner of Paris and Mirabeau.

Or not.

Lol some older business man from out of town had a heart attack in there and died, so they might be temporarily out of order. But this isn't be first time, they will be back in action soon.

Looks like a great place. Unfortunately for us, nothing is going on the time that we'll be down in NO.

Edit ...

Just checked Saengar and no shows either ...

Check out Jeremy Davenport at the Ritz if you like a classy crowd and a romantic mood.

I'll certainly do that.

Keep the recommendations (legitimate ones that would not cause a divorce) coming.

If she's in for this, a visit to Colette's will be the next step for y'all.

hit magazine street uptown if your wife is a shopper.

post on the F and D board for serious responses re: restaurants and bars. But shaya, Peche, Doris, are a few really popular spots at the moment depending on taste.

get wife tickets to whatever is going on at the saenger, it's completely renovated on the inside and a great venue.

head to frenchman street for live music. also, the art garage if local art is your thing.

oh and try not get shot
