I think the issue is that they'll likely be destroyed in no time. It happens when every apartment in BR starts accepting section 8.

why don't you purchase one or two and make a go at being a landlord?

probably so... and the fact they are actually in civilization and don't have to take a 30 min interstate ride to find a dentist

Here's the issue SS...
quote:

He received a $2 million grant from City Hall's Office of Community Development to develop affordable housing
...Keep taxing us to build this shite, that will most likely be run to shite in under 10 years.

The route of the problem isn't that they need new housing. It's education. I'd rather see that $2 million be invested in education for them. Somehow, some way.

People complain when nothing is done...they complain when people try.

Is this the part where we call you an ignorant, racist piece of shite because you don't live there and don't know anything about the area (like you do in every NOLA crime thread)?

It's likely in vain...but the idea is if you give people something to be proud of they will take care of it....will it happen? Likely not.

The biggest problem is the ones that don't get it will be jealous and rob and steal from those trying to make it.

Look like apartment buildings that someone had a last minute idea to make into single family dwellings.

Oh, and isn't that a beautiful view they get of the old run down shacks.

Looks like they used Window World for the windows.

The counter space under the stairs that is half cut off by the underneath of the stair case is pretty much useless.

This is the problem. I'm all for doing this kind of thing but hold the residents accountable for upkeep. Be willing to give them the boot.

To be fair, the area around the airport isn't exactly civilization. It's completely out in the middle of nowhere

Better imo. Keep them away from my 70808

That was the finest estate on the street until those new ones were built. I bet that guy is pissed now.

Education is already available to them. How will more money thrown at the problem do anything about that issue?
The education they need is that of how to properly behave in civilized society.

I agree with all this... education is the number one factor and is ultimately the way to see a difference.

But it's also a several sided approach. Stable housing and decent living conditions play a huge part into these kids education.

Just throwing money after money at strictly education and not addressing where the kids spend the other 16 hours of their day won't do any good. Same as if you built every family one of these homes and send them to underfunded Un-air conditioned schools that lack books for 8 hours a day.

My issue is if you read these threads you get a sense that it's some us vs them situation going on and that this isn't all of our community. The crime that has been breed in these communitites is EVERYONE of our problem. It will eventually be on your doorstep.

I'm no SJW lib or any of that BS. I voted for trump. I pay taxes and bitch about how much they are. I fit in the same demographic as 80% of this board. But I try my best to not be decisive. Go read between the lines on the first page and tell me what you are seeing.
