I've seen the millage they want to tax and where the meetings are going to be but is there a list of roads proposed? I would like to see this.

I'm guessing the ones not complete would be the ones they are proposing. It is one tax I did and will support and probably the cornerstone of Kips time in office. It has been a tax that we actually have seen results. If they propose a timeline and sequence of projects I would like to see that.

IMO Green Light has been tax dollars well spent for Baton Rouge. If anything, it didn't go far or fast enough. Unfortunately now some of the worst arteries in the metro are federal highways.
I don't commend government for being wise with tax dollars often......but I'd back a temporary tax to widen even more streets and possibly one to improve the River Center and airport as well. Baton Rouge has made progress but still has a serious infrastructure problem.

Road work in EBR is seriously fricked up. They tore up Jones Creek in no time and now it just sits there all torn up. In at least the last 3 weeks of traveling on it daily, I haven't seen a single human working on it. These projects could be completed in a matter of weeks if they wanted them to.
Now school is approaching and that area is going to be a complete shite show.

There was one section of Jones Creek that was excluded from Green Light back in 2005 because the state was paying for it. I am pretty sure that section south of Coursey was it.

That is a state contract an even with all of the utility work that has to be done it is very slow. I noticed a lot of pipe was installed and now has been removed so there is an uh oh there somewhere.
The Jones Creek Extension looks to be on the Greenlight list.

Yeah, that section between Tiger Bend and Coursey is not a GLP project. Jones Creek Extension will extend Jones Creek from Jefferson to the intersection at Tiger Bend.

Usually this means relocating utilities.

Don't worry: the Gondolas, and the $200 mil Tram will save us. Just give CSRS another $50 mil to study it, let BRAF run it and BR will be fine!

im pretty sure the green light program is out of money, that is why they are asking for more funds to finish what they originally had planned. It has been a blessing to baton rouge.
Oh and those who were mentioning the jones creek construction, there is a sewer leak and they have to fix the leaks before the 1st new alignment can be paved.

Good to know. Thanks for the info.
But I must say, that's one hell of a sewer leak to extend from coursey all the way to tiger bend. I would take the corner of coursey being complete to improve multiple directions of traffic flow. That intersection has been stagnant for a while now.

great so odds are they will be redoing this area during football season.
2nd quarter 2017 = finished by December at the earliest based off the Jones Creek corridor

Want to know efficiency of the state process to pay for projects. The Jones Creek Road job under construction now was designed and in row process while the Jones Creek Road (Coursey to S. Harrell's Ferry Rd) had just started design. The already finished section was designed and constructed in less than 4 years while it is 10 years later and the section under state urban system funds is just now being constructed.
GLP sped up many projects that if waiting for state funding would take a decade to go through environmental, design and construction. GLP projects were reduced to 3-5 years with the early program project managers.

Finally some development on one of the most needed road improvements in the city!

a couple of issues. the portion of Jones Creek under construction was bid probably 4 years ago, but the low bidder was throw out due to some technically. The state sat on the project a took almost 2 years to put it back out for bid. The contractor working on it has issues with the new sewer line that they installed. From what I hear the majority of the problems are their own fault.
And yes, there seemed to be a big difference between GLP and DOTD projects. GLP was quick to be designed, bid, and constructed. DOTD....well slow on every aspect.

The first portion of Jones Creek was slated to be a 2017-2018 project but once Mike Walker became Mayor pro-tem all the projects in his district were moved up 10 years. So this road will be under traffic around 7-8 years before originally scheduled. The designer didn't understand what the hurry was since they ended up designing both portions. They said the one that is now construction was so far ahead of the other portion of Jones Creek Road that it was silly to push it since it would be done first. 6 years later and it is still not finished.
