New Cell Phone

I haven't bought a new phone in a long time. I have a 4s with the battery life of 45 mins if I'm lucky, cracked up, and on the old network.
Planning on going in for the ATT I phone 6 unless there are better options. I'm pretty stuck on Iphone, but any tips to not get ripped off? Any plan changes to take or stay away from?
I'd appreciate any advice.

I went from the 4S back to the iPhone 6 Plus. It sucks just like my old iPhone did but the battery life is pretty damn solid.

I'm all ears. I haven't updated this phone in over 3 years, so apps don't work anyway. I'm not really a technology guy. The more user friendly, the better.

Motorola Droid Turbo. I believe it's a Verizon exclusive though. In that case Samsung S6.

Fairly sure I read that Apple is announcing the 6S on September 15th so you may wan to wait
