I have some friends in Denham Springs that are going to be evacuated to there. I'm going to pick them up to bring them back to my home in Mandeville to stay with us.

Need some assistance in getting there with the road closures and all.

Anyone have some advice?

TIA!

Go to the La DOTD website and click on the road closures link.

Thanks...

I was just looking at Google Maps with the Traffic overlay on and it looks like I can pick up Hwy 16 North of Folsom and go all the way to Hwy 449 which is the road the school is on and head south to the school.

You should stay home. Seriously.

There are curfews and roads flooded everywhere and it will get worse before it gets better.

I would like to, trust me. Good friend with wife and 3 young boys that just lost everything they own. If I can help them I will. Can't leave them in a shelter knowing I have an empty mother-in-law suite at my house that they can use.

Same fella helped me out when I lost everything in Katrina. I have a moral obligation to exhaust all my options to help them.

Wait till the mornings. No sense running those roads at night.

I'm off that street, careful of standing water on streets. Our neighborhood completely flooded in. If you do come across standing water in streets be mindful to go slow. You're pushing water right back into people's homes.
Be safe.

Good luck. My husband went from BR earlier today to pick up his family who had to evacuate. They couldn't find a path out of the parish that wasn't flooded, so they turned around and are camping out on the floor of a friend's house that was still dry. They even tried to go east to I-55 and kept getting cut off.

Seriously, with the curfew, I'd wait until morning.

Wait until the morning. They will be ok for one night. No reason to risk it tonight

They're safe there tonight. Get them when the sun rises.

Unfamiliar flooded roads at night, what could go wrong?

Doesn't Livingston Parish have a curfew starting at 8 PM?

Your noble gesture could get them killed!

I don't mean to be a killjoy but you need to stay home. The authorities already have enough rescues to do without you adding to their load.

The water is still rising!!!
