am not sure if one is better than the other. both were made by the same manufacturer and both are now available in OTC form.

There are really 3 main heartburn meds. Prilosec, Nexium and Protonix. Any of those should work wonders. I used to struggle because I didn't take them every day. Now I do and they are life changing.

I suffered with heartburn for years and ignored it. Finally started taking a Prilosec every morning, and it was instantly like a miracle cure. I couldn't believe that easy of a fix was right there for all those years I ignored it. Several years back I saw a gastroenterologist and he gave me a prescription for something, but the Prilosec was actually more effective than the Rx.

Start taking Nexium daily.

Or Prilosec; but point is, you let it go too long then you get the Barrett's esophagus condition like I did.

I take Famotidine 20mg almost every day, bourg. It is your best bet, imo

he Barrett's esophagus

Serious condition that virtually nobody has heard about. I downed Tums daily for probaby 30 years before mentioning my heartburn to my doctor. It was "only heartburn" right? He told me about BE and sent me to a specialist. Fortunately, I got an all clear but I now take one Prilosec every other day and no longer deal with heartburn or Tums...although I kind of liked the fruit flavors!
